Let Us All Take A Moment and Appreciate Angel Locsin

I told myself, if I were lucky enough to be given fame and fortune, I'd definitely use it for the good; or even if I were just fortunate enough to live an affluent (or heck, rich!) life in the future, I will highly likely forge a philanthropic path because aside from learning from my alma mater that privilege is meant to be shared, especially to the less fortunate, I have also known what it's like to be getting by; of course, the poor have it worse than me, but I've had my fair share of financial suffering and I told myself that if I make it one day, I'll do my best to help the poor and end social injustices in whatever way I can.

Those dreams of affluence and large- scale philanthropic missions, I live them vicariously through modern heroines like Angel Locsin.

Call me irrational, but when I look at some high profile celebrities, I sometimes wish they'd be more vocal about causes and would use their fame, fortune, privilege, and power more to fight social injustices, and inspire their fans to become more socially aware and proactive.

But at least we have Angel Locsin.

Angel, together with friends from the industry, started the #UNITENTWESTANDPH to provide food relief, PPEs, beds, tents, and essential appliances to hardest- hit areas by Covid-19 as well as key institutions and frontliners who have been actively fighting the Coronavirus.

Angel Locsin has raised P11,000,000 worth of cash and essential items that went straight to various communities and hospitals, such as San Lazaro hospital.

Beko, one of the brands tapped by Angel Locsin and partners, has provided 3 inverter refrigerators with proprietary EverFresh Technology to San Lazaro hospital that are greatly needed to keep meals fresh for longer to help nourish and feed frontliners.

At present, Angel Locsin has already closed the fundraiser because according to her, she has already raised the amount needed to purchase everything they need, but she's still open to help just in case she is still needed.

In times of crisis, the real heroes will appear. Angel Locsin is truly deserving of her fame and fortune; she is a true influencer and the voice we need now more than ever. I've always thought Angel was the perfect celebrity to play the modern rendition of Darna and the role's even more fitting now because she's really one in real life!
