The ECQ is almost coming to an end and the collective sentiment that I have gathered from social media posts of friends lately is the fear of the unknown post- ECQ. Will I still have a job? Will my employer hire me again? Will my industry bounce back after this? Will I be allowed to resume my business when the quarantine has been lifted? Will there be enough jobs for everyone?

There is a lot of uncertainty going on and I myself is wondering if I will be able to withstand the challenges ahead of me as a content creator and entrepreneur; I have faced many challenges in my professional career before, but never in the time of a shaken economy; I am hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.

But I don't want this article to spiral into something negative; if there's one light in the tunnel that I can point you to, it's my belief in the strength of the human will. We have faced graver pandemics before, but here we are, still standing. No matter how hard a situation may seem, an iron will will always get you through; I can attest to this.

And so I give you this article, which I hope will serve as a candle to guide you all the way to the end of the tunnel, to a brand new future or as an armor to preserve and strengthen your will as you navigate your way through this pandemic. Here are 5 ways that I personally live by in order for me to get what I want in life (most of it!); my ways are simple and timeless, and have always worked for me in any situation.

1. NEGOTIATE

- In my years of dealing with entrepreneurs, one common thing I noticed with them is they're darn good negotiators.

So I spent years improving my negotiation skills. If there's one thing I wish they'd make mandatory in school, it would be the art of negotiating.

The benefit of being a great negotiator or knowing how to negotiate at the very least is you tend to always win the situation; you may have to give way to some things, but at the end of the day, you get what you want be it a partnership, a position, a condition, or as simple as an item.

Three things that I want you to know if you want to become a good negotiator: 1. Be certain of what you want. 2. Know why you want it. 3. Be open.

2. PLAN

- One quote that I live by in life is PLANNING IS HALF WINNING.

Because planning ahead gives you confidence, makes you sound certain, makes you more knowledgeable, and gives you time to strengthen your case, all of which will inspire a positive outcome of your proposal.

Planning also gives you an idea of the future and excites you to achieve your goals.

Let me tell you this: all the proposals that I have planned very well for, 90% of them, I won. :)

3. ASK

- One of the lines in the bible that had an impact on me is ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE. I have always applied this when praying, but it's mighty useful as well in real life.

A lot of times, we're always left with what ifs; regret is a grueling feeling, but little did we know is it can be easily fixed with simply asking.

Asking may very well be the only thing standing between you and your dreams, a promotion, a raise, or a new opportunity. But I get why a lot of people find dread in asking and it is because people hate rejection and our culture taught us to just settle for whatever we get.

You will only get what you ask for in life. Starting today, ASK; whichever answer you get, you don't lose anything anyway! In fact, you might just get what you want!

Not all people are in the position to ask just because they don't have the privilege so if you are in the position to do so, use it and use it to do good unto others.

4. VISUALIZE

- I am a huge fan of visualization. Visualization is somewhat a taste of my dreams, which makes me more eager to achieve them.

Visualization is a good spiritual and mental exercise; it makes you look forward to the good things, your dreams, and imparts positive energies to your goals, which can inspire the outcome.

The best way to visualize is to create a board, presentation, or journal/scrapbook that you see everyday; take a look at your visualization tool after waking up and before going to sleep; think about your dreams and feel them coming true.

Because the more you make your dreams more tangible, the more you believe that you can achieve it, and the more you're likely to make them come true!

5. WORK SMART

- There's this book that I have read before that introduced me to OCCAM'S RAZOR (sorry, the name of the book escapes me right now).

Occam's Razor is by a monk philosopher named William Ockham and it states: THE BEST ANSWER TO A PROBLEM IS ALWAYS THE SIMPLEST SOLUTION.

As a very practical girl, this problem solving principle has appealed so much to me. I have applied it in my professional career ever since I read about it and it has been helping me make effective and sensible decisions for my organization and most importantly, my work habits.

Working smart, in a way, is a kind of Occam's Razor. I may always say I'm busy, but to me, that means I am doubling the usual work that I do for my blog and business.

Working smart is not about being busy, but maximizing productivity; I prioritize the tasks that will bring the most favorable outcome or will cover the most bases versus tasks that will only cover a certain aspect.

This, my friends, is a kind of Occam's Razor.

I made a more in- depth Youtube video about this; more tips are in store for you so visit my Youtube channel:

I sincerely wish that the post- ECQ will be tolerable at the very least for you and that the rest of 2020 will be eventually amazing, as promised to us in the beginning. :)
