THE VERDICT:

Cooling beauty products have been my life saver the entire summer (even until now). There's less greenhouse gas- producing activities during the ECQ, but the weather was still unbearably hot-what more if things were normal! The only thing that's been helping me keep my cool are beauty products that provide a minty, cooling effect to help alleviate that muggy feeling such as Mentholatum Lip Gel lip balm; this lip balm provides a surge of freshness to my lips and at the same time, soothes dryness as well.

Mentholatum is one of my recommended affordable lip balms; I love their classic fruity lip balms, tinted and color changing balms, and then this; I find their products classy and generally, have good quality yet at a very affordable price.

Mentholatum Lip Gel is a liquid gel lip balm that provides a soothing, therapeutic effect; it helps soothe dry areas, protect the lips, and provides a pleasant, cooling feel with known refreshing ingredients such as camphor, Eucalyptus oil, Menthol, and Pine essential oil.

Ingredients

I like the squeeze tube packaging; makes it easy to use and the slanted tip contours well with the shape of my lips, although for hygiene purposes, it's better to just use a clean finger to take the amount of product you need rather than putting the applicator straight on your lips.

It's basically a clear lip balm with a shiny finish; it's a little runny so I don't put a lot; it also lubricates my lips for hours and I don't have to reapply often. What I love most about it is it gives a burst of freshness; upon application, it immediately imparts a cooling sensation; it isn't too strong-it's just the right kind of cool feeling that lasts for quite a while on the lips. 

However, if I have a lip wound or particularly sensitive lips, I do not use it because as good and refreshing menthol extracts are, they can cause discomfort on compromised skin.

Mentholatum Lip Gel is a good everyday lip balm that provides temporary relief to dry, chapped lips; it's particularly effective at softening and soothing dry areas, keeping them soft the whole day, but I wouldn't say it's a permanent solution to dry lips because lip balms in general are just lubricants that help alleviate skin problems, specifically on the lips.
