THE VERDICT:

Do you get those moments this quarantine wherein you have to put on makeup for an important event like a big zoom meeting, a livestream, a quick pop into a physical lunch meeting, an online class, or any event that requires you to prep your face with makeup? I have a lot of those moments lately so it inspired a new set of makeup in my dresser, the I-AM-LAZY-TO-PUT-ON-MAKEUP-TODAY makeup kit LOL.

I have recently discovered these new products by W7 Cosmetics that perfectly fit the bill and it's so great for those moments when you need to put on makeup, but you're in a hurry, don't have time, or are simply lazy to get out of bed and fix your face. :D

What is W7 Cosmetics? To the uninitiated, it's a UK-born drugstore makeup brand that specializes in trendy yet affordable makeup. What's more is it's one of the affordable cruelty- free brands out there. Price ranges between P299 to P1,299, the most expensive in the range already.

I've encountered this brand the first time in Australia when I went in 207 for a vacation, specifically at Chemist Warehouse, when I was looking for souvenirs and gifts to give to my sister-in-law. I thought the makeup looked really cool and price isn't bad considering the packaging and presentation of the products. 

Brow Eco is from the Very Vegan makeup collection, which is certified by The Vegan Society. The Very Vegan collection is a great, trendy makeup collection under W7 that is perfect for those who lead a plant- based lifestyle. According to W7, the range is formulated with the guidance of The Vegan Society so for those who want to live a true, holistic cruelty- free lifestyle, this makeup range is great for you. Not really sure if this product does not contain any animal byproduct, but I think it doesn't since it's made for those who follow a plant- based lifestyle (I hope).

Brow Eco features a brow wax, two brow powders, brow highlighter, a tweezer, and dual- ended brow applicator; it is very similar to their Brow Parlour Brow Kit, but the difference is in the formula.

There's only one shade for this product. Here are the descriptions of the shades:

The brow wax is a lightly creamy, non-sticky wax; I like using it as base for the powders so color payoff will be more pigmented and coverage will last longer. The powders have a soft matte formula and payoff; pigmentations is medium to heavy.

Ingredients

Eye Cushion is a cream-to-powder eyeshadow palette. It promises easy blending and long- lasting coverage with their 6-piece, high- pigment eyeshadow powders.

There are six shades in the palette. I feel that the packaging is too big for the size and number of the pans; I wish it were smaller so I could take this anywhere, especially during travel when I literally have no time to do my usual makeup and prefer products that are very easy to use.

Here are my description of the shades:

L-R:

Pearl white

Icy pink

Gunmetal pink

Bronze

Chocolate brown with bronze undertone

Semi- shimmery black

The eyeshadows have a smooth, cream-to-powder texture; pigmentation is medium to full for most shades, but full on the onset for the dark shades.

Let's try out the products.

Bare brow

With Brow Eco brow powder (the lighter brown shade + wax)

The brow powders are quite easy to use: easy to apply and blend, and you can easily make an ombre look with the powders. You can also wet the powders if you want them to last longer, but don't necessarily want to use the wax as base.

One downside I see with the product is there's only one shade and the brow powders all have a reddish undertone; shade is very limiting and can only suit those who have warm skin tones or hair color in the red/brown spectrum.

The product lasts pretty much the whole day, but it's not waterproof. If you have very oily skin, you will need to use the wax as base and other setting products to prolong its staying power.

Eye Cushion Eyeshadow Palette (Gunmetal Pink as base, Bronze as crease color, Chocolate Brown as outer crease and lower lid color)

I really like how blendable Eye Cushion is! This monochromatic look, I achieve in 5 minutes only. The cream-to-powder formula makes the product so blendable that you can even use your fingers to work the product and still get decent- looking eye makeup. I also love the glossy look it gives on my lids; perfect for that dewy, fresh eye makeup look.

The product doesn't entirely develop into a powder finish that's why I don't think this can withstand a full day of wear outdoors and most especially if you have oily lids; if you have normal lids, it will.

If you have oily lids, here's a good method of application: 

1. Use eyeshadow base and powder your lid. Apply the product on top of a powdered lid so it will adhere better on the skin.

2. When you're satisfied with your makeup look using W7 Eye Cushion, set lightly with a translucent setting powder.

Between the two, I like Eye Cushion so much because it's almost like a cream shadow collection and looks effortlessly pretty on the lids even with minimal effort; whenever I will have a meeting, I just grab this palette, swirl my finger either on gunmetal ink or bronze (my favorites!), apply on my lid, and I'm good to go!
