THE VERDICT:
Fresh Skinlab, although a fairly new player, has instantly become a huge favorite among Filipina K-Beauty skin care lovers on a budget because of their high quality K-Beauty skin care- inspired (and made!) products at a pretty affordable price point. It's also impressive how seemingly fast they release new skin care products and collections, which always excites and satisfies the insatiable beauty consumer, and this is what I like about the brand: they always try to bring the best and trendiest K-Beauty products to the masses as soon as they come out.
Speaking of, Fresh Skinlab has released their very own makeup cleansing balm, which is one of the most popular K-Beauty makeup removers today. Jeju Aloe Ice Makeup Cleansing Balm is perhaps the most affordable cleansing balm in retail, plus the ingredients are great for oily, troubled skin! I think I may have found a good cleansing balm for acne- prone and oily skin types!
Ingredients
Fresh Skinlab Jeju Aloe Ice Makeup Cleansing Balm promises to remove makeup, dirt, oil, and grime in one easy scoop. It says it has 98% Aloe Vera extract for a cool feeling and has Centella Asiatica, Niacinamide, and Salicylic Acid.
The reason why I think that it is great for oily and troubled skin is due to Salicylic Acid, which will help combat acne- causing bacteria and Centella Asiatica, which is always used in anti- acne skin care because aside from healing properties, it is a well- known soothing agent as well.
However.
There is the presence of nut oil, specifically from Macadamia. Nuts are allergens so before usage, do a patch test first most especially if you have sensitive skin or have known allergies to nuts. The variety of oils used in the formula are known to mimic natural skin moisture, but if you have very sensitive skin, I would highly suggest that you conduct a patch test before full blown usage as well.
Love that it comes with a spatula! It looks just like any cleansing balm and it's 100g for only P399! The one by Pond's, which is one of the first drugstore brands that came out with a cleansing balm, has the same product at P699 for 100ml.
Texture is just like any makeup cleansing balm. Scent is a floral- Aloe Vera. I was looking forward to the cooling effect on the skin, but there was none that I felt. Maybe there was, but it was faint that I didn't notice it at all.
I would use two pea- sized amounts if I'm wearing light makeup and three if I'm wearing heavy makeup. The balm melts easily upon skin contact and doesn't drip. It emulsifies as well, which gives it double cleansing properties, but personal, I still prefer washing my face with facial foam after a pass with makeup remover thank you very much.
The balm removes every sign of makeup effectively and I love that it is not greasy. No overpowering fragrance as well and most of all, no breakouts!
I recommend this to budget beauties who want to experience the magic and convenience of cleansing balms, and those who have oily, acne- prone skin because it's lightweight, doesn't clog pores, and has acne- fighting and skin- soothing ingredients that are perfect for this skin type.

ReplyDeleteI am still a newbie to make up and skin care so I haven't really tried cleansing balms. This was a good read nonetheless and I think it will be my guide as to what I will try in the future.
ReplyDeleteAwesome review Ms. Martha. Still have a lot of my HG Banila Co cleansing balms. But would love to give this one a try.
