THE VERDICT:

Mochi Skin is the new skin goal that's beginning to sweep across Asia. Started in Japan and their answer to Korea's Glass Skin trend, Mochi Skin is popularized by Japanese beauty brands and characterized by skin that looks bouncy versus the former's glossy appearance. Mochi Skin means skin that is soft and clear, a sign that it is healthy and youthful.

To achieve this, you have to load up on hydration; the best way to achieve Mochi Skin is by going for skin care with specific skin care ingredients that are powerful enough to attract and hold moisture to keep skin hydrated all day such as Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides.

Look no further because you will easily find these ingredients in Hada Labo Facial Wash and Goku Jyun Hydrating Facial Gel, two of my favorite skin care products that I have discovered during the quarantine. My skin has never looked plump and bouncy, thanks to these powerful skin care products!

L-R: Japanese Green Tea Extract Facial Foam and Hydrating Face Wash

Hada Labo Facial Wash comes in three variants:

Hydrating Face Wash: fragrance- free with 2 types of Hyaluronic Acid that infuses and retains moisture on the skin that is being removed every time we wash our face. Great for all skin types specially dry skin

Japanese Green Tea Extract Face Wash: with green tea extract that removes and controls excess facial oil, Bentonite Clay that rids skin of impurities, and Hyaluronic Acid that helps prevent dryness during and after cleansing. Great for oily and acne- prone skin types.

Hydra and Whitening Face Wash (P295): lightens the complexion without the dryness. Has Red Algae and Brown Seaweed extracts that replenish nutrients within the skin, Reservatrol from Grapeseed that brightens the skin, and Hyaluronic Acid that infuses and retains moisture for lightening without the dryness.

Hada Labo Goku Jyun Hydrating Water Gel is a moisturizer with Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, and Ceramides that keep skin healthy, hydrated, and youthful. Niacinamide keeps skin bright and healthy, Hyaluronic Acid hydrates, and Ceramides help support the skin's structure to maintain suppleness and firmness.

Goku Jyun Hydrating Facial Gel Ingredients

The product is on the higher end of the price spectrum among drugstore products, but justifiable since the concentrations of actives are pretty generous. Based on what I can recall, most high end brands with price points beginning at P1,500 pretty much have the same ingredients as this product so I think at P850, the price is okay.

Onto the products!

The facial foams have a thick, creamy and silky consistency; it is similar to most Japanese facial foam brands that are meant to produce thick foams; if you're more familiar with the term WHIPPING FACIAL WASH, it's that.

Consistency is a thick gel cream, but still feels lightweight on the skin. I love gel moisturizers because it's so perfect for our weather and my skin type, but sometimes, they tend to evaporate faster from the skin and don't leave it moisturized for a long time; this one is different: once on the skin, it doesn't feel as if it's evaporating quickly despite the gel formula and my skin feels soft and moisturized for long hours; I think it's due to the four types of Hyaluronic Acid in the product that's helping it last longer and moisturize effectively and longer. It has a light floral fragrance that is very pleasant.

I've been using these together with my favorite Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion and I could say that I have pretty much achieved Mochi skin now: it's more plump, bouncy, and looks very hydrated. I'm loving this look! I've also noticed that even if my skin is getting zits here and there due to maskne, it heals very quickly and I didn't get a full blown breakout for the past month. Hydration is indeed one of the best and simplest solutions to good, sturdy skin!

Hada Labo Facial Wash and Goku Jyun Hydrating Facial Gel (and add the Hydrating Lotion too) is a great hydrating skin care line and I highly recommend it! Will definitely make this one of my go- to hydrating skin care lines from now on! <3

  4. Awesome review Ms. Martha. So true, your skin looks very youthful.. bouncy and plump. My hubby immediately called dibs when he saw the Hada labo set on one of our TBJ MegaAnniveraary loot bags. Can't wait for his verdict once he gives them a try.
