THE VERDICT:
Vitamin C was one of the most trending skin care ingredients last year; people on my side of the Internet have been asking about it a lot in groups and forums, particularly about Vitamin C serums and how effective it is really in lightening hyperpigmentation. I think this year, people will still continue using and educating themselves on the wonders of Vitamin C.
Two weeks ago, COMMONLABS. contacted me and introduced me to their Vitamin C products plus a spot treatment; I’ve used Vitamin C last year and I’ve had good results so I welcomed them to the blog.
I have post- acne marks caused by maskne to deal with so I figured it was the perfect time to put COMMONLABS.’Vitamin C products to the test plus a few fresh zits to test the spot treatment on.
Two weeks after, my marks have lightened! It lightened so fast, it’s almost miraculous.
Let me show you my results and muse about COMMONLABS.’products and my new favorite Vitamin C skin care products, COMMONLABS.’Dual Vita Anti-Oxidant Ampoule and Vitamin C Brightening Gel Cream!
COMMONLABS.is a brand that hails from Seoul, South Korea; their mission is to provide sensible, effective, everyday skin care that utilizes the power of Vitamins. I believe the brand is fairly new, but they have an official Shopee Philippines store; at present COMMONLABS.offers skin care powered by Vitamins C, E, and B5.
COMMONLABS. Vitamin C Brightening Gel Cream is made with pure Vitamin C and Mandarin Orange peel extract to deliver intense brightening and revitalization; Mandarin Orange helps exfoliate and brighten the skin. This cream also has 30% Sea Buckthorn Water extract to provide intense, lasting hydration, and 6 fruit extracts: Camu Camu, Kakadu, Acerola, Pomegranate, and Orange.
I think one of the reasons why this has been truly effective in revitalizing and brightening my marks is because the fruit extracts are known to bear high amounts of Vitamin C; we’ll get to that part later.
Regarding packaging, it feels and looks classy, and as always, I appreciate the spatula that came with it!
Consistency is a rich, bouncy gel-cream; lightweight, yet feels hydrating and moisturizing enough-it’s not the type of gel that you feel will evaporate quickly. It has an energizing orange scent, but not too strong-it’s the right amount of fragrance to lift my senses and I totally like that; I hate strong fragrance in my creams.
Next, we have my favorite, the star, the difference-maker (fine, let’s get to that later too :D): COMMONLABS DUAL VITA ANTI-OXIDANT AMPOULE.
Dual Vita Anti-Oxidant Ampoule may be small, but it is so concentrated and potent, you’ll literally tell yourself ‘thank goodness they only came in that size’ because I haven’t even used a significant amount and yet it has delivered fantastic results!
This serum duo contains 15% pure Vitamin C, Ferulic Acid, Vitamin E, Fullerene (a lubricant and catalyst), Gluconolactone (group of acids for better lightening and exfoliation), and Ubiquinone (commonly known as CoQ10, which is a good anti- aging ingredient) .
Consistency is like runny oil with an orange- like odor, which I believe is naturally-occurring because of the high Vitamin C concentration; it spreads out easily and leaves a film on the skin so I use it preferably during night time.
As mentioned, this has a pretty high concentration of Vitamin C, but it’s generally safe because most skin care brands use between 10%-20% Vitamin C. However, if this is your first time to use Vitamin C, start with a lower concentration and do a patch test first before full-blown usage.
The ampoule comes in two vials and an individually-packed glass dropper to keep the serum fresh. I also appreciate that they came in dark-tinted glass bottles, which helps preserve the integrity of Vitamin C. And can I also say I loooove the combination of Vitamin C and Ferulic Acid? It’s a good combo to look for in skin care when you want intense, effective brightening!
All in all, Dual Vita Anti-Oxidant Ampoule is a well thought out product.
To complete the trifecta, we have Vitamin E Micro Needle Spot Cream. Now this is a very interesting product because it has micro needles that help create micro tears for fast, effective delivery of the product and to induce faster healing. If you’re familiar with Dermarolling wherein you introduce micro tears on the skin to induce collagen production, the idea is the same with this product (but fyi, this is completely different from Dermarolling).
Micro Needle Spot Cream has 54% Tea Tree Leaf extract, Vitamin E, Centella Asiatica, and patented Gesolza, a combination of natural oriental medicine comprised of Sweet Wormwood, Pine Tree, and Citron to help reduce inflammation.
It’s a white, rich cream that is fragrance- free. You’re supposed to put a generous amount on the affected area and let it sit for hours or overnight, preferably.
I used all of these products for two weeks. Now here’s a quick documentation of my journey:

I used my usual facial wash, facial scrub, and toner; if you want an exclusive COMMONLABS.skin care routine, then just go to their Shopee store and purchase; I’ll be sharing pertinent links later.
For daytime, I only used Vitamin C Brightening Gel Cream. It’s so light and gets absorbed easily; great for makeup use and feels refreshing under a face mask.
For night time, I would dab Dual Vita Anti-Oxidant Ampoule only on the parts with maskne marks. COMMONLABS.has also advised to use it on the affected parts only because of its high potency. Next, I set the serum with the gel cream moisturizer and finally, I apply Vitamin E Micro Needle Spot Cream on fresh pimples.
Now here are my individual results with the products:
A cystic zit grew on my chin two weeks ago and I used the spot cream on it. It took a while for the cream to heal the zit just because it’s cystic meaning it’s under the skin, but it did eventually; the micro needles pierced my skin, which helped the product penetrate better and treat the pimple underneath.
The micro needles are real! I thought it was just some new marketing term to call “fast-acting”, but this thing really leaves microscopic needles that you feel when you brush your finger or hand on the parts where the cream is. I normally feel the needles on my skin the morning after and they yield a mild to moderate sting. COMMONLABS.said that the micro needles stay active for around 2+ days or 70 hours and I find this to be true; but is it very uncomfortable? It depends on your pain tolerance; even if there is a stinging sensation, I don’t find it to be completely bothersome or painful. If you have sensitive skin though, please conduct a patch test first and use sparingly and gradually until your skin adjusts to the product. If you’re pregnant, please check with you OB first before usage.
The healing time may seem long to you, but you gotta know that most cystic zits require professional removal or a pimple injection to heal completely so for a mere topical treatment to treat it completely is quite a feat!
Here’s my result after using the ampoule for two weeks. WHOA. Look at the difference; after two weeks, the marks have significantly lightened and the area looks and feels smoother too! I was gushing about how smooth my face was to my husband and he said that he noticed it too!
By the fourth day of usage, I began seeing noticeable effects already such as a smoother skin surface; I didn’t expect it would yield positive results in a short span of time, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
The serum does not sting my skin at all, but it does emit an invisible vapor upon application that can sting your eyes if you apply it too closely; piece of advice, don’t apply it near the eye area.
Since this product is highly concentrated, I do not recommend applying it all over your face, but on problem areas only. But if your problem area is your entire face then I suggest start with application on one area and after 2 or 3 days, gradually increase the number of treated areas until your face has adjusted to the formula; this is what I did: from one area, I’m now using the serum on 3 areas of my face on a daily basis.
Hands down, this is perhaps one of the best skin care and Vitamin C products I have tried. The products have effectively lightened my marks and the best part? No sensitivity, redness, and breakout; because COMMONLABS.is all about creating good ol’ skin care products that work using tried and tested skin care methods and Vitamin formulas. I highly recommend the ampoule if you want instantaneous brightening and the moisturizer for deep hydration and for giving skin a juicy, clear glow!
