THE VERDICT:

In 2006, when baby doll dresses, capri pants, and cropped jackets were a thing, pop rock and alternative rock were dominating the air waves, and slam books and autographs were having a last dance in the consciousness of mid-Millennials, there was Versace Bright Crystal to witness it all and to give a defining fragrance of the year that was.

Versace Bright Crystal is arguably one of the best fragrances 2006 has ever produced; I remember the first time it came out, I forced myself to skip Friday drinking sessions with my college buddies to get myself a bottle haha! Versace Bright Crystals was one of the perfumes that got me hooked on floral perfumes and helped me define my kind of scent. Also, one of the biggest reasons why I tried so dang hard to save up for a bottle was because during that time, it was rumored that boys loved smelling Versace Bright Crystal on girls haha!

15 years after, I still feel a happy kind of nostalgia whenever I see a bottle in the department store or catch a whiff of it on someone. And given the chance, I'd still wear it!

If you love Versace Bright Crystal, but would like it to smell a bit bolder and last a bit longer, then go for Versace Bright Crystal Absolu, the EDP version. Thoughts on this iconic masstige fragrance coming right up!

Versace Bright Crystal Absolu EDP is a bolder version of the original. Released in 2013 by perfume genius, Alberto Morillas, this fruity, musky floral is a blend of Pomegranate, Yuzu, and Water notes in the top notes. Middle notes have Peony, Raspberry, Lotus, and Magnolia, and base notes have Musk, Mahogany, and Amber.

One of the reasons why I was drawn to this fragrance is its distinct profile; that time, fruity floral fragrances seemed to have a uniform, common scent, but Versace Bright Crystal stood out: you would really know it when you smell it, if you know what I mean.

Bright Crystal Absolu smells very much like the original, but less watery and bolder, but not cloying; what I love about this version is it was just an intensified version of the original. Sometimes, iconic perfumes lose their overall signature fragrance when reintroduced, but I'm happy that the team behind this perfume was able to retain its original scent profile. The bottle is really nice, but I was never really a fan of the gigantic cap; wish it were smaller for the 30ml bottle.

As for staying power, this one lasts for more than 5 hours on me; sometimes, I would even smell a hint of it on my bag or skin the next day.

Versace Bright Crystal is a fun, sexy, and classy scent; perfect for fans of the OG version and for anyone who wants a light floral summer fragrance that's very lady- like; and also, for huge fans of the year 2006!

Have you tried this fragrance already? What are your thoughts?
