THE VERDICT:

I think San San is a pretty good brand and it deserves more time in the spotlight. I've seen their brand improve by a huge lot over the years and I want this longstanding, proudly Pinoy cosmetics brand to S-H-I-N-E; because they have good cosmetics and are very affordable. I mean, maybe offline, they have quite a status, but regardless, I want to see more of San San online! :D

Swatching here today one of their latest products for 2021: HD Lip Crayon, which I believe is a new and improved version of the classic crayon that needs to be sharpened before use.

If you're looking for a soft matte lipstick that doesn't dry the lips and won't hurt the wallet, check this out!

San San HD Lip Crayon is one of San San's cult favorite products and now comes in a retractable format. There are 14 shades available and formula promises to be pigment- rich lipstick.

I like the slim, retractable format; it makes the product handy and easy to slip right into my pocket. The lipstick has a smaller diameter for precise application. Finish is soft matte and it's the type that you can layer on or create an ombre look with. It is unscented, glides on smoothly, layers on easily, and feels lightweight. I haven't experienced any dryness nor flaking, but it can highlight dry areas so be sure to moisturize prior use. One downside is I have noticed that some colors have a stinging effect, particularly the lighter shades; not sure if it's just my lips reacting to the product, but it's something worth noting. Be sure to do a patch test before hoarding or even buying more than 2 or 3 pieces.

1. SOFT NUDE

- Light peach with a nude beige undertone. Too pale for me. I think this work as a neutralizing color for my lips before the actual lipstick. Reminds me of MAC Myth.

2. VALENZIA

- Medium cool peach. This one will look good on medium skin tones. Funny enough, this shade reminds me of the old Instagram filter!

3. RICH MOCHA

- Midtone rose with a dirty beige undertone. Reminds me a bit of MAC Mocha.

4. NUDE PINK

- Brick pink with a neutral undertone. Reminds me a little of MAC Mehr, but only more neutral than pink.

5. CINNAMON SPICE

- Chai brown shade with a hint of peach. Reminds me a bit of MAC Malt, one of my favorite semi- nude lipsticks! This one's a keeper!

6. CHILI

- Medium dark pink. Reminds me a bit of MAC Full Fuchsia.

7. FIERY RED

- Bright red with orange undertone. Reminds me of MAC Lady Danger.

8. CAYENNE

- Terracotta red with a subtle brown undertone. Reminds me of MAC Chili.

9. SANGRIA

- Deep wine with purple undertone. Reminds me a bit of MAC Rebel.

10. BOLD WINE

- Pinkish red. Reminds me a bit of MAC Red.

11. MAJESTIC MAROON

- Deep maroon with wine undertone. Reminds me a bit of MAC Diva.

12. POWER PLUM

- Reddish brown shade. Reminds me a bit of MAC Marrakesh.

The products have okay staying power; needs to be retouched after a meal.

Overall, it' s a nice lipstick to try if you like the ombre look or layering colors on your lips because the formula of this lipstick makes it easy to do those.

My favorites are Cinnamon Spice, Cayenne, Bold Wine, and Cinnamon Spice.
