 THE VERDICT

I’m quite familiar with Lactobacillus because I’m a Yakult lover, but recently, I’ve learned that is one of the popular skin care trends that’s being used in skin care.

What makes Lactobacillus a beneficial skin care ingredient? And why is Momopuri Peach Ceramides Skin Care my favorite Lactobacillus and Probiotic skin care to date?

Lactobacillus is considered part of the Probiotics group. Just a refresher, Probiotics is comprised of healthy bacteria and it has become popular in skin care because it is found to keep skin healthy as according to research, there are certain types of bacteria that when applied topically, were found to help protect skin against certain cancers, free radicals, environmental aggressors, and accelerated aging. Fermented skin care is another term that Probiotic skin care is known by; it’s just that fermented skin care refers to the process of culturing bacteria, which are Probiotics. Momopuri is one of these skin care brands that explore Lactobacillus in skin care through the Peach skin care range with Peach Ceramides and Lactobacillus. 

Momopuri is a Japanese skin care brand by BCL, one of the most notable skin care companies in Japan. Momopuri is inspired by its hero ingredient, the juicy Peach, which is known as Momo in Japanese. Momopuri’s products utilize two ingredients to help maintain healthy, hydrated, youthful skin: Lactobacillus and Peach- derived Ceramides. Why Peach- derived ceramides? Because according to their research, Peach Ceramides are rich in moisture- retaining and infusing properties and ideal for hydration. Lactobacillus is applied as Lactic Acid, which is a gentle form of acid that can be used even by sensitive skin types and helps address aging issues.

The range features the following products:

Momopuri Cleansing Wash (P525) is a concentrated facial wash that’s lightly scented with Peach and has moisturizing silk ribbons that line the product. This product is such a visual treat plus it’s very moisturizing too; no dryness every time I use this product. I specifically love using it lately because it’s been quite cold and my skin is particularly feeling taut and dry.

Momopuri Moisture Lotion (P625) is a softening lotion that conditions the skin and makes it more receptive to skin care. It is in between a lotion and a toner so I use this like a toner and that is with a cotton pad. I wouldn’t advise pouring this on your palm and dabbing on the skin because it’s very runny and you might just end up spilling it. I love this thing! It smells really good and sometimes, I use it alone and it’s enough to give my skin a nice, soft, plump, moisturized feel.

Momopuri Gel Cream ingredients

Momopuri Gel Cream (P895) is a rich, bouncy gel cream; it’s very concentrated, feels very hydrating and pleasant on the skin, and a little goes a long way. This is ideal to be used day or night: just apply a sheer layer during day and layer on at night. I love how multitasking the formula is.

Momopuri Booster Serum ingredients

Momopuri Booster Serum (P695) is an 8-pod serum set. One pod is for one day and one use. There’s a lot of serum in one pod and I think it’s good for two or three uses so I suggest that you transfer the remaining into a clean jar; it’s not going to be that hygienic, but it’s a great way to maximize the product. To be honest, one pod is more than enough for my face and how I wish I don’t have to use all that product in one go so I hope Momopuri would consider revamping this product and re-introduce it as a formal serum in a formal serum bottle.

Anyway! This is an ultra rich, hydrating serum; even more hydrating the cream and my face literally feels as juicy as a peach whenever I use it!

The range also comes with a sheet mask (P145), but I don’t have that product at the moment.

I’ve been using the range for more than two weeks now and I’m very pleased with the results!

- No breakouts, which is important for me.

- Speaking of breakouts, I would normally breakout from using anything fermented skin care, but surprisingly, my skin loved Momopuri’s formula!

- Lactic Acid is AMAZING! My skin looks much more youthful and I’ve also noticed that my cheeks are getting rosier. The brand didn’t exactly promise that, but I’ve been noticing it!

- This is one of the acid- based skin care lines that didn’t sting…AT ALL.

- The scent of the products is divine.

- My skin looks perpetually hydrated. What’s not to love about that?

Overall, I love Momopuri because this is a good probiotic skin care line that did not break me out, the scent is good, my skin looks genuinely nourished and hydrated from the inside out, and I just love the rosy effect it gives my skin; must be the effect of lactic acid on me! 

I highly recommend this range to those who are looking for a below-P1000 acid skin care range, dry/oily-normal skin type, and if you have mild signs of aging that you would like to delay for a little while!
