THE VERDICT:

Even with face masks on, women will always have that soft spot for lipstick and will always spare a few bills for a new tube. Nowadays, thanks to my religious skin care routine and right choices, I can get away with just lipstick and a bare face during Zoom meetings; that's why lipstick will and always be an essential makeup item for me!

I'm a big lipstick fan, specifically matte lipsticks, and I love me a good matte formula most especially if it doesn't dry out my lips. Next to matte, I love creamy/satin lipsticks for that extra moisture on top of saturated color.

I have recently discovered these new, affordable lipsticks from Spotlight Cosmetics called Superstar Creamy and Matte Lipsticks, which fit my criteria; they're absolutely great and absolutely affordable. I have all the shades of each line and I'll share them with you below!

Spotlight Cosmetics is a partnership makeup brand between Ever Bilena and ABS-CBN. Superstar Creamy and Matte Lipsticks comes in 6 shades, respectively, and boasts of pigmented, moisturizing color.

The product comes in a sleek, black tube with a stylish, rounded shape.

Spotlight Creamy Matte Lipstick has a smooth, buttery consistency and soft matte finish. This one is very pigmented; only one swipe to get a pretty good color coverage. I'm pleased to report that this is a non-drying matte lipstick. Lasts for hours, but needs to be retouched after eating and leaves a hint of tint on the lips when it wears off.

Spotlight Creamy Lipstick is a moisturizing lip color with medium to heavy pigmentation. The formula on this one gives the right amount of moisture without being runny and sticky. It has okay staying power and needs to be retouched.

Finally, the swatches! Let's start with the mattes.

1. SUPERSTAR CREAMY MATTE LIPSTICK IN SCREAM QUEEN

- Vintage red. This shade has that old Hollywood feel to it.

2. SUPERSTAR MATTE LIPSTICK IN MEDIA MAVEN

- Peachy rose. This shade looks flattering on almost everyone!

3. SUPERSTAR MATTE LIPSTICK IN STYLISH HONEY

- Powder pink. This is a youthful, bright pink that isn't overpowering.

4. SUPERSTAR CREAMY MATTE LIPSTICK IN SULTRY SIREN

- Deep wine red. Reminds me of MAC Diva!

5. SUPERSTAR CREAMY MATTE LIPSTICK IN TRENDY DOLL

- Nude honey peach. A nice nude that brightens warm skin.

6. SUPERSTAR CREAMY MATTE LIPSTICK IN FOXY HEROINE

- Dirty rose with a purple undertone. This is a unique shade of rose for those who like to deviate from the usual lipstick color palette. Sorry for the lippie stain LOL.

Onto the creamy variants!

7. SUPERSTAR CREAMY LIPSTICK IN MODERN GIRL

- Hazelnut brown. This is a good 90's brown!

8. SUPERSTAR CREAMY LIPSTICK IN BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST

- Pinky nude. A nice pink nude that goes nicely with a lot of skin tones.

9. SUPERSTAR CREAMY LIPSTICK IN WORLD CLASS DIVA

- Ruby red. A pretty red for warm skin tones in my opinion!

10. SUPERSTAR CREAMY LIPSTICK IN PRO SENSATION

- Deep orange. For those who want a shade that's in between red and orange.

11. SUPERSTAR CREAMY LIPSTICK IN MODERN MISSY

- Midtone nude beige. A perfect, year round minimalist shade.

12. SUPERSTAR CREAMY LIPSTICK FABULOUS FEMME

- Carnation pink. A nude, everyday pink for fair skin tones.

The shades are classic and while the reds and browns are great, I wish there were more deeper pinks in the range, but hey, that means there will be more to watch out for.

Overall, this is a pretty good lipstick collection: pigmented, has moderate to good staying power, the reds are gorgeous, and it's a Filipino brand too! My highly recommended shades from the matte range are: Scream Queen, Sultry Siren, and Media Maven; from the creamy range: Modern Girl, Pro Sensation, and World Class Diva.
