Cleaning Vs. Tidying: How to organize your home better with KonMari and Roidmi

 

Yesterday, I attended an event held by ROIDMI, the newest range of cleaning equipment solutions to launch in the Philippines. Christine Dychiao, one of the first mommy Bloggers in the country and now, a certified KonMari Consultant who trained under the famous Marie Kondo (I think she's the only one!) has briefly discussed the key principles of the KonMari method of tidying.

Basically, there are six key steps to tidying according to the KonMari method:

1. Commit to tidying up

2. Imagine your ideal lifestyle

3. Finish discarding first

4. Tidy by category, not by location

5. Follow the right order

6. Ask yourself: Does it spark joy?

During the discussion, there's one thing that Christine discussed that made me realize why I feel that my home still doesn't feel clean no matter how I clean it: CLEANING VS. TIDYING.

Do you always feel that your space doesn't feel really clean no matter how hard or frequent you clean it or now matter how "tidy" you think you are?

Because cleaning and tidying are two different things. 

According to the KonMari method, this is the difference between cleaning and tidying:

Cleaning is a physical act, a way to remove dust and dirt around your space and on your treasured items.

Tidying is more of a spiritual act, a way to reflect on material ownership and attachment, which can affect the cleanliness of your space.

Different concepts, but they are intertwined. Because just like in health, if your spirit/emotions/mindset are not okay or 'untidy', it manifests on the outside like clutter and spaces that never seem to become clean.

Humans can be so attached to things that we end up hoarding or holding onto them for personal or economical reasons. There is nothing wrong with keeping and valuing stuff, but the problem sometimes is we let it overcome our life; we end up keeping and hoarding things to the point of impracticality and in the end, we become stressed because our spaces feel so stuffed and dirty; we unknowingly subject ourselves to stress that prevents us from owning a livable, happy, peaceful home. 

In order to live in a genuinely clean space, according to the KonMari method, the solution is simple (but not easy to do!) and that is to 1. Confront your memories and behavior towards things 2. Be willing to let go and set yourself free from attachment. When you have finally mastered these two principles, you'll find yourself holding onto things that matter and letting go of those that no longer spark joy; finally, you will have the space of your dreams: one that is cleaner, brighter, lighter, more peaceful, and happier to be in.

I've been putting these principles of the KonMari method to work even before I have encountered Marie Kondo and her Netflix series, but sometimes, human desires kick in and I forget to be practical.

One of my goals this 2022 is to be even more mindful of what I buy and of the material goals that I want to achieve (specifically with handbags!). To be honest, I kinda' got into online shopping last year and at the end of the year, I just found myself with A LOT of stuff and our house became harder to clean.

The ZiWei Sterilization System sterilizes the floor so your home stays clean and free from viruses.

ROIDMI X20 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

 

The ROIDMI X20 is an aesthetically-pleasing 2-in-1 function vacuum cleaner that can simultaneously vacuum and mop. It has a 120,000 rpm digital brushless motor and a runtime of 65 minutes.  It comes with a NEX-V roller brush suitable for vacuuming floors and carpets. ROIDMI S2 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

 

The ROIDMI S2 is a lightweight model with the main unit weighing only 1.5kg with a 270 0 handle design for easier and comfortable use. The S2 incorporates a 110,000 rpm digital brushless motor and a 130W strong suction power. It has a soft roller brush suitable for vacuuming floors and carpets. It has a magnetic water tank module that can be attached when mopping. This vacuum cleaner has a runtime of 60 minutes on eco mode, 40 minutes on standard mode and, 10 minutes on boost mode.

 

ROIDMI Z1 Air Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

 

The ROIDMI Z1 Air integrates a 100,000 rpm digital brushless motor which provides 110W suction power. At 1.55kg, is lightweight so it is convenient for single-hand use. The Z1 Air has a runtime of 60 minutes on a single charge.

 

All the ROIDMI models mentioned above have a multi-layer air filtration system that traps the previously vacuumed dust and prevents it from being released back into the air. It also comes with a wall-mount dock which can be used for charging and storage purposes.
