Makeup and Beauty Trends that will dominate 2022

Makeup and beauty trends for 2022 are all about nostalgia, which is primarily driven by Gen Z's trend- setting videos. I'm actually liking the direction that the makeup industry has been on since last year and it's all the best part of the noughties (colorful makeup, 'more is more' concept, and bright colors). Finally, an excuse to wear all my favorite trends from my childhood! 

So here are 5 makeup and beauty trends that will dominate 2022. Be sure to update your makeup stash!

COLORED EYELINERS

Colored eyeliners started becoming a thing during the first few months of the pandemic and by 2022, it will enjoy superstar status. More and more people will experiment with ways to express themselves with makeup that will be used on parts that are not covered by face mask. The multitasking nature of colored eyeliners as well as the convenience they bring will appeal very much to busy individuals who are looking for ways to cop a trendy look in half the time and effort.

COLORFUL LIDS

And when people have time to spare on beauty routines, they will experiment more with glam eye makeup looks using colorful eyeshadows. Pinks, blues, and metallics will reign supreme this summer!

The 90s are indeed back because lipgloss will once again become popular. The glossy, transparent look that reigned last 2021 carries over to 2022 and has spilled over to lip trends; I guess this year will be all about translucent beauty and lip gloss will be the preferred product to achieve this look.

Fashion and beauty will collide in nail care. 2022 is the year when graphic nails will be back and become trendy again. Nail art, nail stick ons, and acrylic nail looks will be considered another major form of fashion expression this year so expect to see nail art tutorials to make a comeback this year.

GET UP AND GO BEAUTY

Get Up and Go Beauty is a beauty concept that refers to a look that is "not too made up, but not sh*tty looking either". It's the look that you put on to a quick trip to the bank, grocery, or a quick lunch with yourself or another person. This is a beauty look and trend that will be preferred by many this year because it perfectly suits everyone's general lifestyle and situation nowadays, therefore multi-tasking products that marry skin care + skin enhancing- makeup (e.g. glowy moisturizers) and sensibly- packed, multitasking beauty products (e.g. overall face sticks, tint + eyebrow duo pens) will be the preferred kinds of makeup and beauty products this year.
