THE VERDICT:

Because of face mask usage, I've been practicing the double setting technique: this simply means I'm applying an additional layer of powder on my skin regardless if I'm wearing a liquid base or powder foundation. They say that oil is the greatest enemy of makeup, but nowadays, I say it's the face mask! My makeup just fades faster nowadays because of this!

A loose powder is my product of choice when doing the double setting technique because it's lighter than pressed powder and I get to add another layer without necessarily increasing coverage. The problem with this technique though is my face tends to look cakey and feel dry.

Thankfully, Ready Set Glow came out with their very own loose setting powder and how brilliant of them to add moisturizing extracts in the formula-because it gives me smooth, less cakey coverage that doesn't look and feel dry even after hours of wear. IMO, it can be a dupe for Coty Airspun!

Review below!
Around late last year, Ready Set Glow came out with a whole new set of makeups, a sign that they're starting to diversify from their flagship product, the colored liquid and gel liners.

Loose Setting Powder is an oil- controlling, mattifying, and smoothing powder with SPF. Non- comedogenic and cruelty- free. It comes in 2 shades: Goin' Bananas and Hakuna Matte-ta ta.

The product comes in a flip top, sifter- type jar packaging with a soft puff. Goin' Bananas comes with a purple puff while Hakuna Matte-ta ta comes with a black one. The puffs feel luxurious; I love using it when spreading the powder all over my face because I feel that it doesn't remove makeup coverage.

Another thing I love about the packaging is the top is removable, allowing you to transfer the product into a separate jar for traveling or sampling.

Top: Hakuna Matte- Ta Ta
Bottom: Goin' Bananas

There are only two shades for the powder: Goin' Bananas, which is a banana powder and supposedly the most universal shade between the two and Hakuna Matte-ta ta, a semi- translucent shade.

The powder has a soft, semi- creamy texture. It is fragrance- free and low dusting, which I like because high dusting powders (is there such a term? lol) make me sneezy and somewhat trigger my asthma cough. Coverage is medium to heavy.

I'm wearing Hakuna Matte- ta ta in this photo. The powder has a nice, blurring finish and leaves a matte finish; it's not flat matte, but not dewy matte either. I like how this powder smooths out the texture of my skin and tbh, it kinda' reminds me of the finish of Coty Airspun loose powder, which was once one of the most popular makeup setting powders of 2018, thanks to beauty vloggers who popularized it.

I'm wearing Goin' Bananas in this photo, which suits my skin tone more.

That said, Ready Set Glow's Loose Setting Powder is ideal for baking, but I would advice against using a lot because I have noticed that this powder tends to 'stick' on the skin and leave mild patches unlike Coty Airspun powder that can be swept away easily with a fluffy brush. The patches are manageable-you just need a packed, short powder brush or a clean foundation brush to completely get rid of the patches and be left with a smooth, matte finish.

TBJ TIP: This powder has medium to heavy coverage, use a big, fluffy brush to get a sheerer coverage.

How's the staying power? Pretty good. It takes about 3-4 hours, tops before my face oils up and I noticed that it helps minimize makeup transfer by about 20-30%; my makeup tends to look a bit more vibrant at the end of each day and my face doesn't look and feel dry.

Ready Set Glow Loose Setting Powder is a pretty good buy: it's local, great for all skin types most especially dry skin because of its texture and hydrating ingredients, helps prolong makeup wear, and most of all, has great smoothing properties. If you're looking for a new powder to try, most especially a nice dup for Coty Airspun, I highly recommend this.
