I'm currently on a Japanese Beauty phase for some of my bathroom staples. Between K Beauty and J Beauty, I would say that I'm more of a J Beauty gal because I find that the textures and formulas of their products are more suitable for my skin and my philosophy in beauty: beauty products should be simple and functional yet innovative. Another reason is J Beauty is all about improving the essentials to keep up with changing environments and climates that affect the skin.
So here are three of my favorite J Beauty bath buddies as of late: Himawari Oil in Shampoo, Saborino Good Nigh Facial Mask, and BCL AHA Cleansing Research.
My hair is pretty dry lately because of the cool, windy weather. It's still pretty cool on my side of the city and while I wish this won't end (couldn't stand the scorching summers in Manila anymore ugh!), it does make my hair look dry and feel frizzy.
I started using Himawari Rich Repair Oil in Shampoo again because this one softens hair like a bawse. I swear, you don't even need a conditioner after shampooing your hair with this because it makes it pretty soft already. I already wrote a more detailed review about this together with the conditioner so check it HERE.
I've been working long nights lately because I always have this 90-day business streak at the beginning of each year where I continuously look for, pitch to, and onboard long- term clients for the year. On these days, I don't really have the time to do my usual skin care routine so I find myself slapping on face masks often and Saborino Good Night Facial Sheet Mask has been my go- to.
Saborino Good Night Facial Sheet Mask is very convenient for busy gals like me especially on grind days because it's a moisturizer, treatment, cream, and serum in one. I love using it with my Foreo UFO. The best part about this mask is it only recommends that you put it on for at least a minute to get its benefits versus other face mask brands that require you to have them on for a full 10. It leaves my face smooth, hydrated, and moisturized, and looking fresh; leaves no oily residue and it gets absorbed fairly quickly. It's perfect for all skin types!
BCL Cleansing Research is a new discovery of mine. I know that the Japanese love powder facial cleansers, but it's my first time to encounter this specific brand. Cleansing Research has Apple- derived AHA extracts that help exfoliate, cleanse, and remove excess sebum from the epidermal surface. It comes in a single- use pouch, but I would very much prefer for it to come in a bottle to reduce wastage.
Is there any merit behind powder- type facial cleansers? Apparently, there is. According to brands, powder- type facial cleansers help keep the active ingredients fresh and it is only activate upon contact with water, which optimizes the performance of the product.
BCL Cleansing Research has a nice apple scent. It lathers into a decent foam-not too sudsy, but not practically just an emulsion. It's very easy to rinse out and doesn't leave my face dry. It leaves my face very nice and clean. The fact that it's an AHA cleanser helps my oily skin become cleaner and less prone to breakouts.
These are my favorite J Beauty skin care finds as of late! What are yours?
