THE VERDICT:
I disliked Lego when I was a kid because I had to wait for AGES in order to play properly with it because you have to build something out of the loose bricks. I simply had no patience for that.
But for this kind of "lego", I'd definitely make an exception. :D
GRWM Cosmetics Quad Goals palette is every makeup girl-slash-toy lover's dream come true. I love that there's an element of play in this product plus they're one of the first local brands to offer customizable palettes at a fairly affordable price!
Let's swatch all my 16 vibrant, gorgeous shades of blush, contour, highlighter, highlighter topper, and baked powders!
GRWM Cosmetics Quad Goals is a customizable, refillable palette where you can mix and match blushes, highlighters, contour powders, and highlighter toppers to match your mood and makeup expression. Previously, the quads were more refillable than customizable because a set is either purely blushes, contour powders, and highlighters, but the brand scrapped the idea and allowed customers to fully customize the quads, which I think is a better idea.
Ingredients
Here are the quads. Love the quality and feel of these; they feel high quality despite the price, but the caveat of anything white is it's a stain magnet.
Push, snap, pop. That's basically how you get the pans in and out of the quad. It's literally like Lego, but for grown- ups and makeup lovers. The pans fit snuggly into the quad. The pans don't fall even if you shake the quad, but it has a tendency to pop out slightly if the pans are accidentally pushed from behind. You just have to push the pan back in to prevent it from completely falling and breaking, and I understand that this can be a bit frustrating for some people. I think one good evolution for this product is that the base of the quad will be sealed, but holed and the pans will have stickers so it will be secured when placed in the quad.
Huntress- terracotta (matte)
Zoey- peachy pink with gold shimmer (matte w/ shimmer; similar to Nars Orga*m)
Fan Fiction- midtone purple (matte)
No Shame- barbie pink (matte)
Nami- cool, bluish pink (matte)
Hey Peach- coral pink (matte)
The blushes are predominantly matte, but it's silky, very easy to blend, and pigmentation is medium to heavy. It is fragrance- free. The blushes have buildable color payoff, which I believe was intended by GRWM Cosmetics to make their products even more beginner and heavy hand- friendly.
Skye- lavender with silver shimmer (highlighter topper)
Winter- icy white with silver shimmer (highlighter topper)
Lilac Haze- cool lilac with silver micro shimmer (highlighter)
Major Glow- pale gold (highlighter)
Lit AF- peachy light gold (highlighter)
Mayari- bronze-y gold (baked highlighter)
Tala- champagne gold (baked highlighter)
Clapback- hazelnut brown (contour)
Tan Lines- dark, sunkissed brown (contour)
The baked highlighters have the smoothest formula and are quite pigmented too. The highlighters are very smooth and pigmented, while the highlighter toppers have loose pigments, but deliver high shine because of the giant shimmers. The contour powders have medium pigmentation, but buildable, which I appreciate because it's so easy to go overboard when contouring and the payoff of this product helps minimize such occurrence.
The powders are very easy to work with and I like that they don't look chalky. They last pretty long on my oily-normal skin plus I like that the colors don't look generic and cheap; they really spent on the pigments and were thoughtful with the color choices.
Staying power is good. The blushes even leave a light staining effect, which makes it ideal for oily skin types and this hot weather.
I curated some color combinations to inspire you:
Summer
Fall
All highlighter
All blush
Overalll, good quality product and I love that GRWM Cosmetics is the first Filipino brand to offer this type of product locally. Makeup World offered a customizable compact before, but it wasn't really that customizable since the pans come in sets so I realize now, it can't be really considered customizable.
I like that GRWM Cosmetics is always trying to push the boundaries when it comes to beauty innovation. It's high time for Filipino brands to step up and try to compete in the global beauty stage. Just a little more tweak with the quad system and this will be great and can potentially be the star of the brand.
