THE VERDICT:
Hourglass has finally launched their most- awaited holiday face palettes; everyone's going loco on Tiktok over these gorgeous palettes and now they're practically hard to obtain because they're selling like hotcakes on websites like Sephora.ph. But just keep an eye and sign up on the waitlist so you can get first dibs when they restock!
Luckily, I got samples of these coveted palettes in the famous Jellyfish and Leopard palettes. It's not my first time to try Hourglass' famous Ambient Light powders, highlighters, and blushes so I'm gonna tell you now that these are some of my favorites complexion powders. But read on and check out the swatches and find out which one is the best to gift yourself this holiday season!
Hourglass Lighting Edit Unlocked are limited edition palettes that feature beautifully curated pans of the best- selling Ambient Powders in finishing powder, blush, contour, and highlighter form. The palettes also come in inspired, limited edition packaging that features some of the most endangered animals in the world because more than just limited edition, holiday products, the palettes support a cause as well: 5% of the annual sales of these palettes will be donated to the organization, Non-Human Rights Project, to support their fight to secure fundamental rights for animals.
Here are my detailed reviews on the Ambient Light Powder and Ambient Light Palette.
This is the Jellyfish palette. It comes with the following products:
(Top, left to right) Finishing Powder in Diffused Light, Blush in Rose Fusion, Metallic Strobe Powder in Opal Strobe Light, Bronzer in Lunar Bronze, Blush in Diffused Heat, Finishing Powder in Ethereal Light.
L-R:
Ethereal Light Finishing Powder- pearl white with fine micro shimmer, sheer to medium coverage
Diffused Heat Blush- light peachy pink and mild shimmer overspray
Bronzer in Lunar Bronze- warm brown/taupe with very mild baked shimmer
Opal Strobe Light Strobe Powder- champagne pink with silver shimmer
Rose Fusion Blush- muted rose with very mild baked shimmer
Diffused Light Finishing Powder- pale white with soft shimmer
(Top, left to right) Finishing Powder in Dim Light, Metallic Strobe Powder in Celestial Strobe Light, Blush in Mood Exposure, Blush in Iridescent Rose, Blush in Ethereal Flush, Bronzer in Lustrous Bronze Light
L-R:
Lustrous Bronze Light Bronzer- warm, nutty brown with mild gold overspray
Ethereal Flush Blush- coral/orange with shimmer flecks
Iridescent Rose Blush- midtone rose with coral tones and champagne gold shimmer
Mood Exposure Blush- warm rose with baked shimmer
Celestial Strobe Light Strobe Powder- gold with gold metal shimmer
Dim Light Finishing Powder- light neutral beige
Here's me wearing Jellyfish palette on this side. The blush and bronzers suit me, but the strobe and finishing powders seem to be light for my skin tone.
Leopard palette has warmer colors, but the bronzing powder looks a tad bit orange for my skin tone so I use it as a contour powder instead. The rest of the blushes, finishing powder, and highlighters in this palette are better for my skin tone.
Both palettes are really nice; Jellyfish is great for light skin tones, but the Ethereal Light finishing powder suits varying skin tones and I highly recommend it if you need an under eye highlighting powder. Leopard is better for warm skin tones because the colors are slightly deeper and generally have warmer tones. I haven't tried the rest, but I heard that Snake palette is better for deeper skin tones. Owl is an online exclusive palette and can be customized along with the other palette styles if you buy online.
These are great gifts to give to yourself or your loved ones this Christmas; not only that, you get to help a cause too.
Which one do you like? Jellyfish or Leopard?
