THE VERDICT:

If you don't know yet, Lancome is finally back in the Philippines. When I learned about this information while browsing social media one day, I let out a loud "yay!" because finally, my favorite Hypnose and Lancome's famous fragrances are within reach once again. Sometime around 4 or 5 years ago, Lancome has exited the PH market temporarily to possibly regroup and now they're back.

And they're back with a vengeance because they brought with them a new fragrance that immediately rose to IT FRAGRANCE STATUS just a few months after its launch in the Philippines. People have been raving about it on fragrance groups and influencers can't get enough of it too.

Meet Lancome Idole, Lancome's newest IT perfume here in the Philippines. Now if you're looking for a modern, youthful rose, then you must consider this fragrance.

Lancome Idole was released in 2019 and is described as a rose chypre fragrance. Top notes have pear, bergamot, and pink pepper, heart notes have rose and jasmine, and base notes have white musk, patchouli, cedar, and vanilla. It comes in 25, 50, and 100ml bottles. Since its first release, 6 flankers have followed including 2 limited edition bottles featuring the original fragrance and a hair mist.

Lancome Idole is targeted towards a younger market that's why sustainability is an integral part of its creation and branding. Lancome Idole comes in arguably the thinnest bottle in the world, which makes it more sustainable and environment- friendly, according to the brand. The slim bottle means it uses less resources, it doesn't take up too much space, ergo more bottles can be shipped out in one go, and the fragrance bottle is refillable. As for the refill feature, it is still not available in the Philippines yet, but I do hope that the brand will bring it in soon.

It's interesting to note that the fragrance was created by three female perfumers: Adriana Medina- Baez (one of the noses behind the famous Victoria's Secret Bombshell), Nadège Le Garlantezec (one of the noses behind the famous Prada Paradoxe), and Shyamala Maisondieu (the nose behind the famous Aquolina Pink Sugar). Perfumery is generally male- dominated and it's nice to know that Lancome has entrusted the creation of this new perfume for women to those who know how to do it best: women.

Lancome Idole is a clean, slightly soapy rose perfume blended with creamy musk and fruity notes. The opening is a sparkly concoction of fruits, but rose immediately makes an entrance and is present until the base notes, but only a bit sweeter and muskier. Staying power is great: it lasts for more than 6 hours on me without retouching and has good projection and sillage.

Idole is a youthful rose fragrance, one that is perfect for a young woman who appreciates the beauty and scent of Rose, but wants it to be more age- apt. Idole is like a white cotton cardigan draping across a peach eyelet dress; it is also like an all white jumpsuit with a tailored blazer on; it is also a pink linen dress. Idole can be exactly how you want it to be if we're talking about a sweet yet magnetic feminine vibe and look.

Idole is one of those fragrances that are inoffensive, generally pleasant, and can be worn with almost anything since it's in the middle: it's not too light and not too dark. A pretty safe blindbuy and something that a majority of people would describe as "smells nice".

Overall, a feminine fragrance and a modern, young rendition of a rose perfume. If you're looking for a rose perfume that doesn't smell dated, I think you will like this.

Have you tried Lancome Idole already? What are your thoughts?
