THE VERDICT:
Rare Beauty has been so popular since last year and I can't believe I haven't talked about it on this blog despite owning a couple of products from the brand. I've been trying to grow my Tiktok and other video channels over the last year and it's been taking up too much of my time that I have no time anymore to take pictures and update this blog as often as I should, but I try! Tell me, do you still read blogs?
Anyway, speaking of me trying to update this blog, here's my first Rare Beauty entry in this blog: Rare Beauty Kind Words Matte Lipstick and Lip Liner in Strong.
Rare Beauty in general has good makeup, but I have some opinions about this duo.
lip liner ingredients
Kind Words Lip Liner is a smooth, matte creamy lip liner that promises to be long- wearing and waterproof. Comes in 10 shades.
Lipstick in Strong
Kind Words Matte Lipstick is a hydrating yet long- wearing formula. It comes in 10 shades.
Packaging is great. The lipstick is similar to Chanel's click-top packaging, which I find to be convenient especially when you're only functioning with one hand or you need to reapply your lipstick while on the go.
The lip liner comes with a built- in sharpener. It feels solid and glides on smoothly with little to no tug.Left is the lip liner and right is the lipstick. The lip liner looks and feels more matte than the lipstick, which makes it a good base for the lipstick. The lipstick is not technically matte, but more of semi- matte since Rare Beauty claims that is is hydrating.
Strong is a deep vintage brown shade. Shade is reminiscent of MAC' Antiqued Velvet and a more brown version of Viva Glam Ariana Grande.
Both products glide on smoothly. The lip liner's formula is very nice; it's so nice that I even think it has better value than the lipstick because it can even double as a matte lipstick plus it's non-drying. The lipstick is also nice; hydrating, lightweight, and doesn't dry my lips at all, but I think the formula is something that you can find in much cheaper lipsticks though I have to admit, it smells good though.
The formula of these products are actually good, but sadly, the shade isn't. Strong ends up really patchy just after minutes of wear. I think the pigments don't work too well with the base or the lipstick formula is just too hydrating too keep an opaque shade such as this looking smooth and even for hours. I think if I got a light or medium shade, I would have enjoyed the experience more.
Bottomline, I think these are still worth trying, but heed my advice, go for the lighter colors. If you can only choose one between the two, I suggest get the lip liner because formula is really good.
Have you tried Rare Beauty's Kind Words lipstick and lip liner already? What are your thoughts?
