THE VERDICT:
Ever since I learned that some of the local makeup artists of the biggest Filipino celebrities swear by Tom Ford's Shade and Illuminate Contour Duo as their product of choice in achieving "super natural- looking contour and radiance", I've been dreaming about it and told myself that I'll get it one day.
Last year, finally, I got my hands on this baby. I'm not a huge cream contour/highlighter fan because I find these to be inconvenient and unnecessary steps to a makeup routine, but this product has changed my mind and approach; for a firm person like me, that's a testament to how good this product is!
Ingredients
Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Contour Duo features a complementing cream contour and highlighter duos. Locally, there are only two shade variants available, but Tom Ford has since released two more shades to the lineup.
The product feels very luxurious and the packaging feels sturdy. Downside is it's bulky and big. It comes with a velvet pouch to protect the compact and I highly recommend that you keep it on before storage because Tom Ford's compacts has chipping issues, which minimizes its luxe look and feel.
The palette I have is Intensity 1.
Consistency is a light cream and finish is creamy and a bit wet, but despite this, color payoff is amazing. It's buildable and coverage is medium to heavy. This cream contour palette is not messing around with pigmentation! It's very easy to blend whether with a beauty blender or brush, but personally, I love blending it with a beauty blender/sponge since it can deliver a heavy coverage and a sponge proves to be more efficient in blending.
I thought I wouldn't be able to utilize the highlighter, but I enjoy using it a lot. This highlighter gives a "wet look", which is the look that I desire in highlighters. Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Highlighter is another luxury product that aims to give that wet finish, but Tom Ford does it better. I dab it on top of powdered skin and set it with a makeup fixing spray and I'm good to go. It can last for hours even without being set with powder and I love that it doesn't run off or feel greasy despite that!
The creams last the whole day with very minimal fading and don't look chalky; it stays and looks natural the whole day. I'm glad I finally gave this product a shot, but to be frank, it is VERY expensive. If I run out, I would seriously consider whether I'll buy it again or not since it commands a hefty price, but at this point, I'm glad that I was finally able to experience it. If you want to try this product or if you have the means to repurchase, go ahead because it's worth the try and it's one of the best cream contour/highlighter palettes that I've had the pleasure of experiencing.
