THE VERDICT:

Historical records show that the art of waxing was first practiced n Egypt, where Cleopatra and her servants would harvest thick and pasty liquids from tree saps and apply it all over their body to remove unwanted hair.

Waxing is the most preferred hair removal method nowadays. It's easy, fast, and convenient. It keeps your body hair free longer as compared to shaving, and keeps you from having chicken skin as compared to plucking. But what deters most people from enjoying the benefits of waxing is the notion that waxing can only be obtained from a waxing salon, and can only be done by professional waxers.

It is possible to create your own all- natural wax, but the cooking procedure can take more than 5 hours. And if you make a mistake, you will burn the sugar completely and you have to repeat step 1. Good thing there are ready made cold waxes sold in the market nowadays. It has made self- waxing possible.

Strip it! is one of these brands. It is an all- natural cold wax made out of Egyptian wax. The ingredients are not listed on the tub, but from the smell of it, I suspect that sugar is one of the main ingredients of the product. It also has Calamansi extract that help whiten skin.

The package is inclusive of reusable cloths and a spatula. The wax can be used directly or may be warmed up a bit in the microwave for a thicker consistency. It also has a 'Directions for use' pamphlet that one should follow to the letter for a more effective waxing experience.

The wax smells good enough to eat. The wax is very sticky so if it comes in contact with your clothes or bed sheet, you'll have to soak the part with the wax stain. It doesn't come off with tissue or wet wipes.

I followed the instructions carefully and I must say I'm quite pleased with the results. I did not shave for two weeks so I can put this thing to the test. If you have coarse hair, this does the trick. However, I still had to pluck small and fine hairs that resisted the wax. Great news is, you can use this all by yourself. You can also ask someone to do the deed for you.

The hair on my underarms protrude whenever they grow. If you have the same case as mine, you will have a hard time using this. Best thing is to make them grow really long so you can hold them down with the wax. This is bad news if you like wearing sleeveless tops. You'll have to endure wearing long sleeves and shirts unless you shave.

This wax washes off easily with water. Since it's water- soluble, you don't have to launder the stripping cloths. Just fill a basin with water and soak the cloths and spatula. Leave them submerged for 30 mins. then scrub off the remaining residue and hang to dry.

Overall, I recommend this if you're not a fan of traveling all the way to a waxing salon. Waxing is also a fun activity to do if you're hanging out at home with your girlfriends or sisters.

  1. I've read about this in cosmo.ph and fortunately, it is available in Sessou in ATC. However, i'm kind of scared to try waxing by myself because it might cause permanent damage. I wish you could have included tips and how you did it exactly in your review :)

Thanks for the review though! :D
