Eyeing that cheap Urban Decay Naked Palette Online? Bear in mind these CHECK POINTS:
1. The fake NP comes in a copper carton box.
2. This one's pretty hard to spot: The actual case of the NP. The fake NP's case looks EXACTLY like the real thing. But bear in mind that the font color of the word NAKED is in light gold, not dark gold like the fake one.
3. The spacing of the letters on the palette of the fake NP looks off, and there's a huge space beside the letter D.

The inside of the fake palette: The eyeshadow pans look uneven; An authentic Urban Decay NP has shimmery eyeshadows, and you can easily spot the shimmers from afar. This fake palette seems to have matte eyeshadows, and the colors are too light if compared to the authentic one!
Giveaway signs: It doesn't have a travel- sized UDPP, and it comes with an eyeshadow brush!

So don't fall for these fake palettes! Always look for the NP's box to guarantee yourself that you're getting the real deal!
ADDENDUM: As per Gem, Glacey, Cheska and Chay, the new Urban Decay Naked Palette was relaunched. Instead of the dual- ended 24/7 pencil, it now has the Good Karma Brush. BUT both products still come in the same transparent packaging, and have the travel- sized Primer Potion.

it looks real fake! oh my, buying online is getting really scary this days. I just hope you guys can post trusted online sellers or where you buy your stuff. It'd be a lot of help. At these times, make-up gurus and bloggers like you are the ones I run to whenever I want to buy online, to check reviews and things I need to know re: the product, so as to know whether I'm getting the REAL thing. gahd, it's so annoying, this people are really counterfeiting everything!

ReplyDeletehi martha. nice post about the UD Naked. i was shocked too when i saw photos of the fake Naked online. Baka the new Naked 2 din, they're trying to copy na and will be out soon. Grabe lang. Anyway, my Naked Palette has got the Good Karma Shadow Brush and the UDPP, that's the 2nd release of the original Naked na kasi while the first one has the pencil. I guess, the counterfeiters made gaya the brush not the 24/7 liner which means lately lang nila ginawa these fakes. =/ here's how i ranted about these fakes lately. http://bit.ly/xfLrTJ

ReplyDeleteWow! I can't believe they even have to make fake UD Naked Palettes. Btw, the new Naked Palette now comes with a brush. I just had mine from the US and also checked the Sephora site if it does come now with a brush. :)

ReplyDeleteSipag mo maghanap, galing :) But Martha, Naked Palette now comes with an eyeshadow brush talga instead of the dual end 24/7 liners :) they changed it several (or a year) after the palette was released.
ReplyDeleteThe Naked palette comes with a brush now, UD switched to that when they couldn't keep up with the demand for the palette around the first quarter of last year - the dual ended pencil took longer to produce than a synthetic brush. My mom bought mine in Sephora Canada around April 2011 and it came with a brush.
ReplyDeleteI would agree with you though on the quality of the eyeshadows, even with a basic digicam and a really bright flash, the shimmers of the eyeshadow would still show up if it's an original palette.

I found a seller online who is trying to start up a business like "All Cosmetic Wholesale" named Shimmer Beauty. I recieved both the Naked & Naked 2 for $10-5 cheaper than UD's Cost or sephora with free shipping. Probably the best and nicest seller ive dealt with online. Honest and informative.

ReplyDeleteHi...Nice post about the fake. Only one mistake: In 2011, Urban Decay replaced the double sided eyeliner with a $26 full sized make up brush. I love my Urban Decay!!

My friend from Sydney bought a UD naked 1 palette 4 days ago for $40 (free ship) from Ebay and was delivered to me in San Diego.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this post. I've been wanting an Urban Decay Naked Palette since forever and one time at the recent Super Sale Bazaar, I was tempted to buy one. The seller's original price was at Php1800. I was undecided and she lowered it down to Php1500! Imagine that. I ended up not buying because well, it was too good to be true :( I was heartbroken. But after seeing this post, I was relieved. It was absolutely a knock-off. Walang Primer Potion, hindi nakalagay sa plastic cover/seal. Oh well. Next time, I will surely be keeping an eye out for knock-offs. Thanks again!
There are some stores that sell these knockoffs. Saw a Kylie knockoff. I pity the people selling these fakes, I know that you need to earn your keep, but you end up hurting your customers.Sorry commenting on dated post, but this is timely until now
