THE VERDICT:

Sorry it took me a while to come up with a review for this one, as a lot of you may have been very excited when I revealed it last year. My usage was on and off for the past few months, and it was only last month that I had a chance to use it religiously. Finally, here's what I think about it.

Just a lil' recap: A BB Cream is supposed to be worn underneath foundation, so that means they should be lightweight and just a wee bit tinted, so it will not clash with the shades of your bases.

In general, I find BB Creams thick and goopy. A lot of people say that it can be used on its own, but I beg to differ. Yes, its ingredients are advantageous to our skin, but I just find its coverage too poor, white, and pink. It's like a poor version of foundation. That's why I am not partial to BB Creams.

But BSkin somehow changed my perception about BB Creams. And I think BB Creams should be like this: lightweight, color- correct, and sheer.

BSkin is infused with a powerhouse cast of Arbutin, Royal Jelly, Green Tea, Vitamin E, Jojoba, and Allantoin that promise whiter, smoother, refined, and healthier- looking skin.

I like the fact that it has Titanium Dioxide to shield our skin from UVB rays, and Zinc Oxide to protect it from UVA rays. If you've read my comprehensive posts about Sunblock FAQS and Product Recommendations, you probably know by now that Zinc Oxide is one of the best shields against the harmful UVA rays.

BSkin also boasts of its 'Microcap Technology', a technology that is becoming apparent in most skin care and makeup brands nowadays. However, other brands may not call it as such, but methinks the principle is just the same. It's like this: the active ingredients are encapsulated in protective barriers to ensure optimum efficacy. The ingredients are only activated when used. The most powerful ingredients stay fresh before every use, thereby rendering more effective and greater results.

It comes in a cute hot pink squeeze type tube with a steel cap. Size is 30ml.

I also like it for its skintone- adjusting properties. Check out the swatch. BSkin comes off as a white, runny liquid, then it starts changing its color upon blending. The final shade of the BB Cream depends on your skin color. Yup! You've read it right. Unbelievable? Here's proof: Nikki of Askmewhats said in her review of the same product that the outcome is slightly pink on her. Nikki is a fair- skinned girl with seemingly pinkish skin while I, on the other hand, have golden skin with yellow undertones. And look! It turned yellow on me instead of pink! Amazing!

Here's my skin with nothing on except under eye concealer.

My skin with a layer of BSkin. I only apply around 1- 2 layers, as it still has a tendency to leave a white cast due to high concentration of SPF. But at least, it doesn't leave an obvious and nasty white cast unlike other BB Cream brands. It gives a nice, glowing sheen to my skin too. It has a faint floral smell that isn't too bothersome. It dries up pretty quickly as well. It blends like a dream, and coverage is sheer, which makes it the perfect BB Cream for me.

Here's BSkin with a layer of foundation and shade- matching pressed powder. It didn't affect my foundation and powder's shades at all! However, it doesn't have superb oil- controlling properties, and you may need to retouch around twice or thrice during wear but heck, don't we all retouch our makeups? So retouching is not really a problem. Therefore, I am not going to count retouching as a concern in my next face base reviews. :) Don't worry, it will not aggravate oily skin. I have oily skin, and I didn't have a huge problem about slick and shine. :)

Overall, it's good stuff. Finally, there's a BB Cream that will suit yellow- toned skin. However, I will not buy it again because I am a foundation gal. Besides, I have enough skin care products to keep my skin at its best condition. But if you're into whitening and BB Creams, I highly recommend this.

  4. The only BB cream that I've been tried is from Maybelline. I like how bb creams give the dewy effect on skin. Pero much better pa rin ang foundations kasi it gives better coverage.
