DESCRIPTION (TAKEN FROM CHERRYCULTURE.COM):

High Definition Studio Photogenic Primer creates a fresh palette for liquid makeup or face powder application. Apply to clean and moisturized face. Silky and lightweight formula helps to erase the appearance of fine lines and pores for a smooth finish before applying foundation. Your makeup will look fresh and flawless all day - even into the wee hours of the night!

THE VERDICT:

NYX is now offering an all- affordable HD cosmetic line. And here’s my take on their HD Primer.

So what’s with HD make- ups? HD or High Definition make- ups are made to meet the demands of film, tv, and photography. It is specifically formulated to create a flawless, even, and undetectable make- up finish in front of the camera. HD make- ups are more or less, infused with light diffusing particles that help in creating a matte and natural finish.

I use primer because I have oily skin. It helps in keeping my foundation and the rest of my make- up intact the whole day. Primers are kinda’ expensive, so I seldom use them. I’m happy to report that NYX HD is probably, the cheapest primer I have ever encountered.

Camwhores rejoice!

How this primer works. It also has pore refining and wrinkle- erasing ingredients.

Ingredients

It comes in a lightweight plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. The pump is controllable, and no amount will ever go to waste.

The consistency of the primer is runny, which makes it spreadable. A little amount goes a long way. It has a slight baby powder scent that goes away after the primer settles on your skin. It feels like moisturizer when applied, and instantly dries to a matte finish.

Here’s my face without anything on.

Here’s my face with the NYX HD primer. It did leave faint white cast on my face. So I say, don’t put too much of it because it might turn your foundation a shade lighter!

Here’s my face with the primer, foundation, and powder. I do not know how the light- diffusing particles work, but in my observation, the primer makes my face look matte. Maybe the light- diffusing particles prevent shine from reflecting in the light. Amazing!

Apart from giving my skin a flawless look, it also keeps oil at bay. I only have to retouch my powder once if the weather is kinda’ cool, and twice if it’s humid. My t- zone produced a bit of oil, but not that of an oil- mine. Facial blotting papers are good enough to remove the shine from my face. Yay! I’m saving some face powder!

Here’s my face after 10 hours of wear. My foundation did not oxidize, and my face still looks fresh and semi- matte. By the way, I used facial blotting papers on my way home and took this picture right after slipping into my sleeping gown.

Overall, I highly recommend this primer. It works both ways: for professional and everyday use. Oily- skinned ladies and make- up junkies alike will delight in this primer. It can give most high- end brands a run for money! Best of all, it is paraben and talc- free, so no need to worry about adverse reactions which are sometimes caused by these ingredients.
