THE VERDICT:

Royal Effem is considered as one of the top-rated foundation brands in the world. No wonder why Royal Effem sells more than a million bottles of this particular foundation worldwide annually.

I actually raised a brow when I’ve read that it’s a worldwide best- seller. I rarely see reviews online for this particular foundation, so how come it’s considered as a best- seller?

But now I know why.

Royal Effem Extreme Lasting Mat Foundation is a creamy liquid foundation that yields a medium- heavy coverage. It has a slight perfume- like fragrance in it, but tolerable.

It comes with a spatula for hygienic usage. I used to think that it would be much convenient if it came with a pump, but I figured that the foundation might be too thick for pump dispensing. At least it has a spatula, unlike other thick and creamy foundation brands that don’t come with any applicator at all.

803 is a caramel shade with heavy yellow undertones. It’s slightly lighter than MAC’s NC42 shade, but the yellow undertone lets the foundation adjust to my skin tone. It’s best for Asians like me! This particular foundation has pink- toned shades for mestizas as well.

Here’s my bare face. Please take note of that juicy red pimple on my nose.

With one layer of Extreme Lasting Mat Foundation

Notice how it instantly improved my skin’s texture? And check out the small red bump on my nose. It was completely concealed by the foundation. Take note that I didn’t apply concealer on it prior to the foundation.

One might ask, “If it’s called Extreme Lasting Mat, how come it looks so oily?” Wait a minute kapeng mainit. It hasn’t settled yet! I find that the foundation settles slowly because of its thick consistency. But once you layer it with powder, it becomes matte from texture to finish. I like how it still projects a soft sheen because flat matte looks can make you look too old or fake.

Look! It can cover post- acne marks too! Take note again that I didn’t apply concealer on my post- acne marks prior to the foundation.

A lot of girls swear by this particular foundation because it freakishly lasts all day. Indeed it does because it has an oil- free formulation. It does have an oil extract though, which is Sunflower Oil. But it’s one of the best cosmetic oils to use in makeup products because it doesn’t make your skin oily, and has skin- compatible properties, meaning it just mimics your skin’s natural sebum. It doesn’t aggravate oily skin, and most importantly, it does not clog pores. I use this particularly on very humid days because it does not fade even if my face becomes oily during wear. It’s also great for weddings, prom nights, all- night parties, photo shoots, and tapings, and other occasions that require prolonged makeup wear. It’s also best for people with enlarged pores and people with acne scars and dips because the foundation evens out the surface by filling the holes.

Here’s the foundation+pressed powder. I love it because it does not feel heavy in spite of its thick consistency. It also improves the texture of skin. Look at my skin. It looks almost impeccable here! I’m even confident to say that you can zoom this picture in! Lol!

Will I buy this again? Of course I will because it’s affordable and great. I can compare it with Nars’ Firming Foundation. But I wouldn’t be buying one anytime soon because methinks this bottle will last me for more than two years!

  1. I just realized how you look like a younger version of Tetchie Agbayani. Pretty.

Good foundation. Gusto ko yung mga full-coverage, I can always sheer it out if I want light coverage. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Long-lasting,heavy coverage, camera-friendly - things I want for a foundation. and this foundation seems to have it all. if this is comparable to Nars' foundation(which i think has the best foundation,IMO), i think the price is sulit na since Nars costs almost 2500 here. Thanks for the review! :-)

  7. I agree with Rae :)
I also want to try liquid foundation, light or thick consistency. BB cream pa lang and pressed powders nasubukan ko.

  8. I love your foundation reviews! Always super helpful.

Can I just ask what your favorite favorite liquid foundation is? I'm on a hunt for something that I can wear everyday (as in mall, etc) without looking like I'm actually wearing foundation. Though one with a good coverage would be nice, too. Thanks! :)

  10. medyo mustardy like color ung foto ng bottle. Yeah napansin ko din medyo oily pero ur right there are concelears na need to settle and syempre kung anu temperature din ng room, yan na observe ko. even sa mga eye shadow and even sa eyebrow powder kapag humid ung room temp iba ang application not like kapag nasa ac room ka. I like how it conceal mga marks, I do have those freckled looking marks , dont know where it came from pero mostly ung na conceal ko. I guess the price will live up to the brand name, Royal na Royal! :)

  12. Oh my Gulay! Ito'y hulog ng langit! hehehe I think this is the foundation that I am looking for, I have too oily skin and large pores, I even have a lot of acne marks and bumps. Since, I'm not into applying concealer, this foundation is so perfect. Specially ngayong summer. Kailangan kong mag-ipon for this, o kaya I'll pray nalang na maging lucky commenter of the month, since it is a bit pricey para sa kuripot na tulad ko. hehe Ms.Martha you always have the best products po talaga.

  13. oo nga ano, younger version of Techie Agbayani nga!! Galing!

You're so pretty talaga! I dont know how to apply foundations eh, so i stray away from it. parang feel ko, it looks good on others, but not me.

  14. hindi ako masyado sa full coverage dear. pero ang galing naman nito.. i love your reviews hun. thanks

  15. Is this better than Yves Rocher? I've been using Yves Rocher ever since I saw your review and it has worked wonders for my every day make-up routine. I like how its finish is not flat at all and deposits colors at the right places. If this is better, then I might get this soon. After all, I have gotten a shade lighter. (Perfect excuse to get a new foundation.Hahahaha)

  17. rae: hello there! thanks for visiting! :) yup a lot of people tell me that too. Thanks for the compliment!

Regarding the foundation, yes, it can provide full coverage too. :) Just layer it on. Make sure you allow the first layer to dry first prior to the next layer.. :)

anything goes: true! And it's super affordable pa! :)

sara: "oh yes, I'm the great, ENABLER." LOL. :) Try mo na dear. :)

    donnarence: thanks dear! :)

    Janet: thanks dear! :)

dawn: yup! you can meet Sarah in person in case you want to see all the shades first prior to purchasing. :

kath: then it's time to try foundation! lol. :)

romsz: thanks dear! :) as in my HG foundation? Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation. :)

Gellie: agree! Thanks for your visit too! :)

Jen: I can't give foundation away though 'cos I can't guess the shade of each and every person. :) I'm sure you won't regret your purchase if you buy it. :)

jakie: thanks dear! I should create a tutorial on how to apply foundation perfectly :)

    rhaindropz: thanks! :)

Trina: I like both eh. I like YR for the soft sheen it gives. It's pretty great, but it can't cover really dark facial marks, unlike Royal effem. They have great staying power, respectively. To sum it up:

If you just want a 'like skin' coverage- Yves Rocher

If you want a foundation that feels like second skin- Royal Effem

    Thanks for visiting! :)
