Enlightened by THE NEW YOU+GIVEAWAY CLOSE

I admit that I used to be one of those people who would automatically raise a brow whenever I’d hear someone exclaim that they want to go under the knife, or they are pro Plastic Surgery, and would gladly undergo it if given the chance. I used to deem Plastic Surgery as a taboo and an unhealthy kind of body obsession. As my beauty sensibilities have evolved over the years, I have been more appreciative of anything related to beauty, including Plastic Surgery. I have come to realize that I used to think negatively about it because humility aside, God has blessed me with a proportionate body. I don’t have to worry about small boobs, a bulbous nose, flat butt, big teeth, etc. I am very happy with my body, albeit I still wonder how it feels like to undergo Plastic Surgery. But if you’re going to ask me, it’s not part of my life plans yet because currently, there’s nothing wrong with my body (still).

But what about those who are not physically blessed, and have been dealing with their physical insecurities day by day? Don’t they deserve to be liberated from stress? C’mon, it’s easy to say “Love whatever God has given you”. But if you put yourself in the shoes of these people, I know you would fathom what I’m trying to point out. We can’t deny the fact that there are people, no matter how successful they may seem, still have barriers that prevent them from realizing their full potential--and most of these impediments are their physical features. Don’t get me wrong, I am an advocate of natural beauty, but I’m also the type who understands the journey of a person, and would gladly support the things that will make that person happy.

I think I am already on my way to embracing Plastic Surgery as a part of life after reading THE NEW YOU magazine. I got an email from them, and they asked if I’m familiar with the mag. I said no, and they offered me some copies. I thought it’s a new beauty magazine—those types that feature makeup and fashion trends. Well, it’s sorta’ like that, but overall, it’s about Plastic Surgery and aesthetic reinvention.

In a nutshell, THE NEW YOU mag is your ultimate guide to surgical beauty procedures. Contrary to popular belief, Plastic Surgery is not just about vanity. It is meant to address bodily concerns and correct physical deformities to prevent acute or chronic diseases in the long run. Whatever query regarding Plastic Surgery is lingering in your mind, THE NEW YOU will answer.

THE NEW YOU also provides a directory of licensed dermatologists, allergologists, and cosmetic and plastic surgeons. Plastic and Cosmetic surgeries are serious businesses, and you wouldn’t want an inexperienced or much worse, a quack doctor performing the deeds for you. Not only that, they also provide a comprehensive list of unpopular yet doctor- prescribed over-the-counter products to battle skin problems such as acne. I might try one of the recommended products in the magazine one of these days because some of my current products aren’t sufficient anymore in combating those darn zits.

I also love the fact that they do not sell Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery to their readers, because they know for a fact that it’s still considered as a taboo by most people. They understand that not everyone has the heart to go under knife. They just present various recommendations from rhinoplasty to iris transplants to readers who are considering tweaking their bodies for the better.

Honestly, I think it will take a few more years before Plastic and Cosmetic surgery emerge from their bad reputation, especially because the media is being bombarded by pictures of celebrities who have looked worse after such procedures. I admire the team behind THE NEW YOU magazine for enlightening people about Plastic Surgery in spite of the challenge.

You see, Plastic Surgery exists for a reason. Sadly, the process itself has been maligned and misinterpreted by our society when in fact, we fail to consider that the ones who undergo it and their unrealistic dreams and expectations are partly to blame for the bad outcomes of these procedures. Kenn Velasco, Editor-In-Chief of THE NEW YOU magazine has pinned it down when he said:

“We believe there is a right time and reason for plastic surgery. We believe that realistic expectations lead to better outcomes.”

In the end, your result is entirely up to you!

The New You Magazine is a quarterly publication on the latest aesthetic procedures in the Philippines and around the world. The magazine retails at P200.00.

  2. I hope I can answer even if I'm not joining.

In my early 20's I used to be one of those who want to go under the knife. But I didn't have the money. So I said I'll work my ass off until eventually I could afford alar trimming and liposuction. But as I was doing ok with my career and all that stuff, I lost the interest. I gained confidence from other areas in my life and I was able to make peace with the things that I don't like about myself. It's very character-building.

Right now, I won't go under the knife, maybe when I'm older. My dad has very hooded eyes and sometimes the his eyelid folds impair his vision. We have the same eyes and that might happen to me too. I'll have my eyelids "fixed" if it gets to a point my dad is in right now.

C.) Answer to the question: I am not against with those people who wants to undergo operations just to look more beautiful and make them more confident, I mean? If you have the money and guts why not?
but speaking for myself? I won't go under the knife, it's not that I am perfect but it's loving myself and accepting me for who I am in the very beginning.. I would be more confident if everything I have are genuine (just like owning a branded shoes or bag) I would be more proud of myself if people would look at me as beautiful as I am in my own special way.. like the song "born this way says" -GOD makes no mistakes- ^^.

    C) Yes, although I'm contented with what God has given to me, there are certain things that really ruin my days. I don't have that nice legs, which prevents from wearing nice clothes in store. And to save myself from hearing people whispering irritating words about my legs, I always wear long skirt, slacks and mostly jeans. So, if given the chance...I'll surely will grab the opportunity.

Answer: I disagree with plastic surgery because, when you get plastic surgery you are left with scars and a fake looking face. no matter how hard you try,you cannot manually make beauty. And beside there's so many risk that involves that's why there's so many victim of bad surgery out there and I'm not wiling to take that risk:)I agree 100% God made everyone the way the are for a reason! When ever some gets plastic surgery they become fake, they lose apart of themselves. They should learn to in brace their natural beauty. However,I'm a fan of improvements so I'm in for non- surgical procedures like monthly facials and scrubs,as long as it improves and enhaces (not altering)my God given beauty.Besides,I'm not a celebrity that markets physical beauty,I market my talent and skills:)

    C. I am a fan of cosmetic clinics and I patronize their services such as facial treatments, but not the more invasive ones such as plastic surgery. This is because I believe that natural beauty is more appreciated by others, and if ever I undergo plastic surgery to change something physical in my body, then that is not me anymore.

C: No, even if I wished to have a noselift when I was 2 years old according to my mom. I know that I have lots of insecurities and issues with my weight during my adolescent up to my 20's. But as time goes by, I realized that everything has a reason. It is true that God created us unique and I believe that he also gave us this because He knew we are responsible in our actions. If your fat, you have the option to go exercise and have a healthy lifestyle. Sometimes the negative images that we have are the reason why we become a better person. There are other options, not just surgery and sometimes accepting who we are makes a lot of difference.

C.) Answer to the question: No, because it carries a risk of medical complications and some of the most common risks associated with plastic surgery are infection, severe bleeding, nerve damage that may lead to numbness, tissue death and bruising in the are.

Changing our body is not as simple as revamping your wardrobe. Far better to face the future armed with the outward confidence that comes from feeling truly comfortable with my inner self. Even without surgery, I can say that I'm so blessed and grateful for what God gave me. If you're confident and ready to face the world despite of your imperfections, then you should not think about having surgery.

We shouldn't matter what we look like on the outside, what matters is on the inside, beauty is only the face, BUT the real beauty is our personality.
