Okay. I'm doing a review for a bag. I wonder, how do fashion bloggers say something about bags? I'm just afraid that I'll write a too comprehensive review for it---like how I'd review makeups and skin care products. :p So I'll just state the reasons why I love and bought this bag. And oh, this will serve as an authentication post too for those who are yet to buy their own Neverfull babies. :)
Honestly, I was just looking for a second hand Neverfull Damier Azur MM. I went to Bagaholic, but found none. Well, actually, there are. But the ones left are the classic monogram and Damier Ebene Neverfull bags. I was actually fine with any of the two styles, (although I would love it if it's a Damier Azur) but what prevented me from buying is Bagaholic's pricing. The Neverfull bags looked pretty scruffy and very old, and their price is STILL expensive given their condition. Albeit cheaper than buying a brand new one, my instinct tells me that the bags are not worth my money. I was like"C'mon. I can find these very old- looking Neverfull bags in Ebay at 5-10k cheaper." And it felt like"Pinilit lang magka- Louis Vuitton" if I decided to buy any of those bags. So I just decided to shell out extra bucks to buy a new one. After all, it's a reward for myself for getting through my academic life without repeating any subject. Nyahaha. :D
Another funny incident at Bagaholic: I saw this second hand Limited Edition patent black doctors bag by Salvatore Ferragamo priced at 25k+. I was literally shocked at their pricing because a brand new one of the same bag costs 25k too. I should know. We have the same bag at home! Oh my. They have to do a little research on price points. :/
Bagaholic is a nice store, but again, they have to do a lil' research on pricing. But they have bags that are fairly priced though.

Anyway.
Reference: Bag was bought from Louis Vuitton, Greenbelt 4.
Authentication is only intended for Neverfull Damier Azur PM, MM, and GM bags.
I bring a lot of stuff with me whenever I go out so big canvass bags really do it for me. At the bottom of this post, you'll see a pic of my bag collection, and you'll notice that all of my bags are huge. I'm not the type who's into hip, printed, small, and ultra colorful bags. I always go for the classic ones: from color to style. Why? 'Cos they look good with almost anything! :p
I'm not going to throw away these two--EVER! :P
Damier Azur's light, pastel colors can match any clothing in cool- toned hues. It's a very versatile bag too. Like what I've said in a previous post showcasing this bag, it becomes a small city bag if I tighten the strings on both sides, and a huge canvas bag if I loosen 'em up. It can look laid-back and formal at the same time. It's like I bought two LVs in one!
Authenticating starts here. In Ebay, I saw some LV bags with I.D. card- like control cards. Louis Vuitton bags only come with these control cards. (At least in my experience. It might be a different case with other bag models, so please feel free to add additional information) My Speedy 25 also has the same cards. If the seller shows you one big, glossy control card, BEWARE!
It comes with a huge cotton dust bag. Its color is pale yellow, and the words 'LOUIS VUITTON' are cleanly printed on the cloth. The font is quite thick too. If a seller shows you a dust bag of the LV bag you're eyeing, ask him/her to provide closer shots of the brand logo. If the words look off and the font is too thin, BEWARE!
The spacious interior of a Neverfull MM. It truly is perfect for a heavy traveller like moi. :)
Heat stamp: This is where you'll find the brand name and country of origin. (in terms of manufacturing)
Inside flap: Compare this photo with the flap of a Neverfull bag you're eyeing online. If you find a slight inconsistency in the details, BEWARE!
The Neverfull bag's exterior is made of coated canvass. The only leather parts are the handles and strings. I love it because it's easier to clean! I just use a damp cloth and scrub off the stains lightly. Same cleaning technique can also be done on the fabric canvas of the interior.
The brand name stamped all over the exterior. I was having a hard time taking a pic of this because the grainy texture is making the logo appear blurry on pictures. Here's the most decent shot I took. Compare it with the Neverfull bag you're buying online. Please pay close attention to the following: Font, spacing, and word and letters alignment.
Luxury bags have impressive details. Check out the stitching. It's so clean and consistent. :)
The hook inside the bag. Most fake Neverfull bags have matte and grainy hooks. An authentic Neverfull Damier Azur has shiny gold- plated hooks. And the LV logo should look straight as well.
Keychain hooks: Gold- plated with a shiny finish, and has medium thickness.
Rivets: Rivets are the metal buttons that reinforce strings, locks, handles, etc. on a bag. A Neverfull Damier Azur's rivet is also gold- plated with a shiny finish. It looks really polished. Fake ones have grainy- looking and rough rivets.
Side string whatnots: Sorry, I don't know what to call them. Lol. But that round hook is also a keychain hook.
I was told that the Cowhide leather trimmed parts of brand new authentic Louis Vuitton bags have bright red glossy paint on the sides. Fake ones have dark brown or dark red matte paints. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. :)
Alone no more :)
So here's my humble bag collection :) I have Longchamps, a vintage Prada Tessuto nylon bag, Furla's Candy bag, soft hobo from Rabeanco, LV Speedy, and my newest baby, Damier. :)
It's really a good buy because it's very useful. Others say that it's a common bag, but again, I don't care. I'm after its usefulness. :)

ReplyDeleteYour posts are very informative as always. I want to have a bag like your new LV Bag but I can't afford to buy one for now :P I don't want to buy fake just to satisfy myself of having such bag. I always bring a lot of stuff too! I'm actually wondering for those who just bring like a pouch when going out! I can't do that haha that's why my friends call me girl scout, I almost have everything necessary with me :D
ReplyDeleteroxyfoxy: hey there dear! thanks for sharing your thoughts. :) gb4 price is 43,200php :) Hope you get yours this year! :)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: thank you! :D True on the "I don't want to buy fake just to satisfy myself of having such bag." I know some people who have fake Neverfull bags. Sheesh. Why don't they just get LCs? Right? You can't fool yourself. :) Haha. The BF calls me "The Cabinet: because I bring so much stuff too! :D Thanks for sharing and have a great day. :D

thank you!im hopeful. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are certainly a bagaholic! :) I've seen online shops selling authentic, second or third hand lv bags priced like, 15k. The bags looked like they've been passed down to four generations though. Leather skin scrapings, stains, inner part of bag looks smelly and dirty pa. Tsk
ReplyDeleteI used to hate this bag seriously! I used to think that it's not at all worth the price....but now i am so drooling to get my own neverfull! It looks so chic and I love that it's very spacious since I love to carry all my stuff with me:D
ReplyDeletechristine: thanks for sharing! we also have to gauge if the product is still worth our money, or if the sellers area already overpricing. :)
ReplyDeleteice: hi dear! funny because I used to hate this bag too! :D But when I got my hands on it at the store, I was like "Whoa. This is the perfect bag for me!" I love it! :)
I used to just look at neverfull images and see other girls carry them. Then on my birthday, my hubby gifted me with a neverfull mm damier ebene. It's bliss smelling the leather from my shoulder, looking at the shiny hooks and rivets and feeling the coated canvas texture on my palm. Haha you do get what I meant girl? :) Check that you yours have that well hidden date stamp. I appreciate your great review of the bag with matching detailed photos. And your lovely bag collection.
ReplyDeleteYnsy: Awww.. Your hubby is so sweet! :D Yes, yes, I do get what you're trying to say. I know that stamp too, but forgot to post it here. :) That's the batch code. :) The moment I held it in the store, it was pure love! Ah, and when I've opened my box at home, it felt like there was glaring light emanating from the box. For a moment, it felt like heaven. I'm so happy for having this bag. It's a milestone. :)
ReplyDeleteHi! How about your speedy bag? Whats the gb4 price for that? :)
ReplyDeletehi there, nice review. i've been eyeing on this bag as well.. did you pay in cash or they do accept payment terms for cc like in other countries? thanks a lot!!
ReplyDeletei used to hate LV with passion esp after seeing a lot of imitation ones out there...may authentic grade pa nga worth 19k! duh!!!
ReplyDeletebut when i went to the LV boutique with my friend i was hooked....
i loved the NF monogram i bought because it is very light despite its size...and indeed the smell of leather is pure bliss ... i like using it with the strings pulled bec it looks more elegant...
How do you store your Neverfull bag to avoid creasing? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: Hi there! That's around 34k, I think. Forgot it already hehe. :D
ReplyDeleteGrace: Hi there and welcome to tbj! I paid in cash 'cos I don't have a credit card. But they accept credit cards. :)
Anonymous: True! The 7star bags? Ugh! Fake is still fake no matter how close it is to the original. :)
The leather smells nice indeed. I even find myself smelling the leather trimmings even if it's a bit old already haha. :D
Anjie: Hi there! I put it inside the box after every use. :)
Hi there just wonder why did you choose the mm and why not a gm?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: GM's too big na for me. :)

Hello miss martha! I just recently discovered you blog. I love this LV post. Its so informative. I'm just wondering how do the prices in the actual store differ from the prices online? Is it already tax and vat inclusive? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI also have used Louis Vuitton purses so i know that how good and comfortable they really are.My whole wardrobe is filled with their collection and stills i want to buy more.
ReplyDeleteLouis Vuitton Papillon Pouch Monogram Canvas is the best one.
ReplyDeleteHi martha. I really like your post re your blog review of an lv bag. Been reading many sites re authenticating an lv bag and your post was probably one of the most concise, clear and the shots easy to see the difference. Your post sets it straight, the feel of a genuine lv is really miles apart from a wannabe. Hope you can write more on this topic for bag collectors and lovers like me. Thanks
ReplyDeleteHi there! What do you think about the Damier Azur NF with Rose Ballerine interior? Or do you still prefer the classic beige interior? Thanks! Love seeing reviews from the Philippines.. 😊
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you think of this post! :)
