Makeup Forecast: M.A.C AW Trends 2012 w/ James Molloy

Yesterday, I was invited by one of my favorite makeup brands, MAC, to an afternoon talk about makeup trends with James Molloy, MAC’s Director of Artistry for the APAC (Asia Pacific) Region.

Artist Profile: James Molloy has been working with M.A.C for 12 years. He has done makeup for numerous fashion week events in the world’s fashion capitals, and some of the giants in the fashion industry such as Alexander Wang and Zac Posen to name a few. His genuine passion for colors has catapulted him to becoming a Senior Artist for M.A.C in as little as three years, having trained a handful of aspiring makeup artists who dare challenge the world of makeup and colors with M.A.C. At present, James works with the APAC Product Development team, making sure that M.A.C continually sets the standards in the fast- evolving world of makeup trends. When asked why he loves working at M.A.C, James mused: “No other makeup brand stood out like M.A.C with its grunge and glam artists and pumping music. It has been and still is a place where I feel totally free to create and explore the art of makeup.”

THE INCEPTION: M.A.C A/W 2012 TRENDS- From Berlin, to Copenhagen, to Africa, to Asia, the brilliant artists of MAC have created a set of signature looks for Fall that is as diverse as the cultures and runways that have inspired it. Truly, Fashion Week events give birth to some of the best fashion and makeup looks. It is where boundaries in dressing up are crossed, and colors are given a whole new meaning. An artist’s dream setting, the runway is a breeding ground where the creative can express him/herself without any inhibitions and restrictions-it is a place where various minds, regardless of artistic differences, unite to create a masterpiece.
