THE VERDICT:

Alright, I have a confession to make: I usually skip applying sunblock on my body. Oh please don't hate me because I'm not being a true beauty blogger--I'm human and I do make mistakes sometimes! :D

Like most of you, I find most body sunblocks too heavy, sticky, and hot for regular use. I even had a sunblock freak accident, wherein the sunblock I had used gave me a ridiculous glowing purplish-white cast all over my body in photos! Que Horror! Good thing I came across Nivea's newest Protect and Refresh Invisible Cooling Mist, a very light and tolerable sunblock for mild to extreme sun exposure. This product will help me become more religious with my sunblock application!

NIVEA PROTECT AND REFRESH COOLING MIST IN DETAIL

The product comes in a CFC- Free aerosol can. It only comes in one size and is a lil' bulky though. You can have one can for your office desk so you can replenish your sun protection easily and quickly at anytime of the day.

Ingredients:

Alcohol Denat., Butane, Isobutane, Propane, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Homosalate, Octocrylene, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Dibutyl Adipate, Glycerin, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine | Polysilicone-15, Menthol, Acrylates/Octylacrylamide Copolymer, Aqua, Linalool, Limonene, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Benzyl Alcohol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Eugenol, Citronellol, Coumarin, Parfum.

During the Nivea Summer Blast Event in Palawan, I had asked the kind peeps at Nivea regarding the main SPF content/s of this product as I don't see the usual ingredients such as Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Avobenzone, etc. on the list. Jon Lee of Nivea said that instead of the traditional SPF ingredients, this product contains newer (and perhaps cheaper) alternatives such as Benzoate, Salicylate, Homosalate, and anything that ends with the suffix -ate.

NIVEA PROTECT AND REFRESH COOLING MIST IN ACTION

The product is a sheer invisible mist with a watery consistency. If you spray it closely, you'll notice that it actually has a white tint, and the brilliant aerosol packaging just prevents it from being too concentrated and creating a white cast on your skin. It has Nivea's signature light floral scent that goes away after a few minutes and doesn't reek of that nasty classic sunblock smell. Drying time is pretty quick and even more so when you start rubbing it onto your body. After a few seconds, you'll start feeling a minty, tingling sensation that's so fresh and invigorating--to me, this is what makes the product so addicting!

It dries to a semi- matte finish with a hint of sheen--it's a great alternative to dry oils for the body: It lets you sport glowing skin with added sun protection to boot! This product is only water- resistant and if you sweat profusely, you may have to reapply this product again as I find that it has a tendency to come off with too much sweat. FYI, there are no waterproof sunblocks--you still have to reapply all sunblocks during wear, regardless of the brand. :) But at least this product's packaging lets you reapply sunblock with so much ease, and the consistency of the sunblock is absolutely non- messy. I'm practically using it everyday, especially during noontime, when the sun is high and shining mightily because the cooling effect refreshes me instantly! I recommend it this summer because this is the new way to wear sunblock! :)

Application Tip: Spray Nivea Protect and Refresh Cooling mist on a part of your body for 15 seconds to ensure that you get the right amount of sunblock to keep you thoroughly protected from UV rays.

  10. Ohms: Welcome! :)

Kandis and Mayla: Indeed it is! :D

Detsy: Hi there and welcome to TBJ! Great question! I don't use lotion underneath it as it affects the absorbability of this product. :) Yes, you can use it alone. It does not moisturize skin, but it does not make it dry either. :)

Tine: Hi and welcome to TBJ! Yup! Good buy indeed! You can try Kiehl's sunblock for the face. It's my HG. :D You can go to any Kiehl's store and ask for a sachet sample. :)

Eloise: Then this is perfect for you! :) That's the thing--it doesn't act like lotion though. But it doesn't aggravate skin dryness, at least to me. :)

Kath: Onga! You're so fair! I think you'll like this. :)

Jenniya: That's true dear! :D No more white casts in photos yay! :D

  11. Now I can't wait for Summer vacation and outings. I don't like the feel of sunblock on my skin. The heaviness and the feel of excruciating heat inside your body, argh, I don't like that. This one seems to be very different. I think I want to try this. Thanks Ms. Martha for the review! :)

  12. I don't mind the bulkiness kung napakadali naming i-apply. I think I'm sold lol! I'll try this when I finish my current bottle of sunblock. Siguro I'll buy this one together with Nivea Sun Serum, I've read good reviews about that too and pwedeng pang-everyday pa.

  13. Thanks for this review, Ms M! I always hated sunblocks for its heavy and thick consistency and yea, the white cast on photos which freaks me out :/ Now, this is my perfect summer buddy! I was even shocked to see how light-looking it was, and it's not the usual sunblock you would always see in the market. I love the fact that it is comes in CFC-friendly aerosol can, which helps in dispensing product in control. Seems bulky, so they should have a smaller version of this one. Would def buy this, not just for summer, but also to beat the heat here in Cebu everyday :)

  14. I guess mas okay talaga ang mist when it comes to sunblock. Yung lotion kasi ang lagkit ng feeling sa katawan esp. pag nagbabad ka sa araw. Good thing Nivea has this invisible mist na hindi messy.

  15. And this is what I'm waiting for... The product review :) Thanks Ms. Martha for sharing. It actually adds up to my decision-making on buying the product.

A bit pricey but to safeguard my skin from the harmful effects of UV rays, well I guess, this is a good catch. Plus I hate using sticky sunblocks. It feels eewww all day, so it's not fun at all. And with Nivea Protect & Refresh Cooling Mist, having sunblock would be hassle-free, without the sticky feeling.

Michelle, Rhaindropz, and Issa: You're welcome. :)

Belle: Thanks for sharing your thoughts dear. :) If you hate sticky sunblocks, grab this! :D

May: Right on! I've always loved Nivea for always coming up with innovative products for the body. :)

Kris: I have Nivea's serum too and I have yet to use that one. Great combo you wrote right in there. The sunblock will protect your skin, while the serum will even out sunburned/darkened areas. :)
