THE VERDICT:

From being a skin care junkie who literally changed skin care brands every single day, I've grown to a wiser woman and just stuck with age- appropriate products, and used them until I saw results. Before, I used to try out every single skin care product-especially anti-aging products-that lands on my doorstep as I firmly believe that prevention is always better than cure. It's good to have this healthy kind of paranoia, but the wrong thing I did was I used a lot of products that I didn't really need. In the end, my skin just got frustrated (maybe it kept on saying then "Wrinkle Cream upon us! But...there is none yet. *excrete") and so did I.

So now, whenever I get bottles, jars, or tubes of the latest anti- aging potion, I make sure to criticize it. If it's for me, I keep it. If not, it goes either to my mom, aunt, or older cousins, and then I ask them to just update me on the results so I could blog about it. When I got this serum from Clarins, I thought it wasn't for me because I've always had this impression that the brand is for more mature women--Good thing I like reading and researching because I found out that this preventive serum was designed for women aged 25 and up. The end of story is, I kept it. :D

CLARINS DOUBLE SERUM (HYDRIC-LIPIDIC SYSTEM) IN DETAIL

This particular Double Serum is actually the latest reformulation. It said to be a preventive aging serum targeted to ladies in their mid-20's and up. To me, this product is a gentle, hydrating, brightening serum for those who are suffering from the mild signs of aging such as dull skin, unevenness, and roughness. There are also wrinkle- reducing properties because some people, especially those with dry skin, may exhibit a few (or a lot of) wrinkles at such an early age. FYI, aging is not just about the numbers-it's about your skin type!

Here are the main ingredients (from clarins.co.uk):

Katafray bark extract, hyaluronic acid: moisturising.

Organic perilla and macadamia oils: nourish the skin.

Organic quinoa and green tea extract: protective action.

Maritime pine extract, organic rosehip oil: oxygenise the skin.

Organic green banana extract, thyme and bocoa: regenerating action

I'm a fan of plants and this is the reason why I dig this product-it's primarily plant- based!

One of the proud features of this product is its innovative bottles within a bottle packaging.

The purpose of this is, it prevents the Hydric and Lipidic serums from touching each other. Each serum contains ingredients that trigger each other so to keep them fresh, Clarins had separated them within this bottle. I don't really know how this type of packaging contributes to the efficiency of the product, but for what it's worth, I like it because it's cool. LOL! :D

Another proud feature is the serum itself, which contains the Hydric-Lipidic System. I'm quoting what I wrote in a preview post about this product:

The Hydric-Lipidic System mimics skin's natural water and fat balance, thus making our skin more responsive to the powerful ingredients within the serum.

The Hydric Serum is the orange one, while the Lipidic Serum is the clear one. You can't really just opt to use one of the products because they're designed to coexist, unless you'll smash the bottle open and use them individually. (Who has time to do that?)

CLARINS DOUBLE SERUM (HYDRIC-LIPIDIC SYSTEM) IN ACTION

Just what I need

What I like about this product is its texture is very light- so light that you can even use it during daytime. It is also spreadable, absorbs pretty quickly, and smells nice. (Has a light floral fragrance to be exact) I don't know how it mimics my skin's fat and water balance, but one thing's for sure: It feels just like the natural oil and moisture of my skin-nothing heavy and clogging! My face also felt less oily during mornings when I was using this product.

What I got from using this product is brighter, clearer and softer skin. I'm quite happy with the results (though minimal) because dullness, unevenness, and roughness are the only aging signs that I have to deal with, albeit it didn't lighten up any of my existing post- acne marks significantly even if it has brightening properties--That's okay since I have spot brightening serums for that problem.

It's uncomplicated, and doesn't promise to do rocket science on my skin, but it works. It's formulated to suit normal, oily, dry, and combination skin types. I recommend it those who have the same skin woes as mine, and to those who are looking for a light, mild, basic, natural anti- aging serum. I'll probably get one again because it gives me exactly what I need until I see wrinkles forming on my skin.

  2. I have the same sentiment regarding anti-aging products. I don't have any wrinkles yet, but I used to latch on to anti-aging products like crazy. After more than a week of usage without noticeable results, I would start to wonder "What is this supposed to do again?" LOL.

I think it's great that this serum is more focused on preventing (or delaying) the appearance of wrinkles. But the price! *faints*

I will have to save up for this. :)

  3. The design of the bottle spells a well-thought design in my opinion. I also believe in the power of plant extracts and if Clarins Double Serum is designed for mid-20s and up gals, then I can use this without frustrating my skin.

  6. meh,,, siguro blessing din na im not as successful as you are or other bloggers who get free items kasi im so sure na il slap everything on my face! hahaha, im a hoarder like that (TMI Lol). And knowing my skin, it's gonna get more confused than it is right now

anyway, im not lemming for this. not because of the price pero i think i have to focus more on my skin acne kesa sa aging. Ive actually improved na dahil i've finally learned the power of moisturizing the skin. big thanks to physiogel. I think for now, yun moisturizing will do to help me with aging.

about the packaging, i'm quite iffy about that fancy bottle. kasi sometimes the cost of the product ay galing sa packaging. i sure hope na yun price nia ay dahl super effective siya at hindi lang dahil sa production costs.

what im really intersted to know miss m is ano na ang naging kapalaran mo sa La mer na cream that you got? Oh please do tell :-)

  7. Eloise: Actually, if you have oily skin, you'll thank your oilies one day because oily skinned people don't get old easily! :D

Hmmm.I think it's not entirely about the packaging, although I do get your point. Because the price of this serum is almost the same as the ones by Kiehl's and Estee Lauder, and the latter brands don't have fancy packaging such as this. :) Coming from experience, it is effective, although I won't diss the fact that there could be more potent serums than this. Like what I said, this serum is suited to my current skin needs. :)

La Mer, still testing it out. :)

Leilani: Couldn't agree more! But for a serum that delivers, it's actually affordable already. :)

    Kris: Right! :)

Ohms: Ooooh. Anti-aging concealer? I'll check that out! :)

BrownOso: Hahha! Good thing you stopped before the products did you more harm than good. :p If you're in your mid-20's, you'll benefit from this serum. :D

    Jec: Welcome! :D
