THE VERDICT

Legend has it that Majolica Majorca's mascaras take a huuuuge amount of effort to remove-I should know, I've experienced it myself and I have to spare around 2-3 minutes to take away every single trace of say, Lash King or Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On, my most favorite mascaras from the brand. You might say that the extra minutes are too insignificant to bother about, but trust me, if you're very tired and sleepy, they'll count.

On the bright side, Majolica's mascaras live up to their waterproof claim: Even if you're soaking wet, sweaty, oily, teary- eyed and all, your eyes will still look dry and fresh.

Majolica has released an exclusive dissolver for their powerful mascaras, just like how Kryptonite is for Superman. (Geek mode haha. I can't wait for the movie!) It's the Eyes Reset Gel. Initially, I thought it was an eyeshadow primer or something, and even an eye cream--nope, it's a mascara remover.

MAJOLICA MAJORCA EYES RESET GEL IN DETAIL

Ingredients: Mineral Oil, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Sorbitol, Water, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Diphenylsiloxy, Phenyl Trimethicone, Sucrose Stearate, PEG/PPG- 35/40, Dimethyl Ether, PEG-60, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Sodium Citrate, Algin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Citric Acid, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Methylisothiazolinone, Trisodium EDTA, Tocopherol

It comes in a very handy squeeze- type tube. It's small and compact enough that you can bring it with you in your travels.

MAJOLICA MAJORCA EYES RESET GEL IN ACTION

Eyes Reset Gel is sort of a jellied oil infused with water. The water content takes out the stinging factor that can be caused by oil- based removers. It's a non-messy and gentle way to use oil on your eyes, although it does not dissolve makeup rapidly like how regular oil does-you'd have to massage it onto your eyes for about three minutes for it to take away everything completely.

The gel is unscented, quite thick, very spreadable, and you'd only need a pea-sized amount per eye to remove waterproof and regular eyeshadow, mascara, and eyeliner-methinks this will last me for about 4 months. Indeed, it does remove Majolica Majorca mascaras effectively, even selected brands of waterproof and fiber mascaras. (K-Palette's mascaras do not yield easily to this gel) It clouds vision for a bit though, but it comes off when you rinse it well with water. Also, I find that this gel attracts anything that comes into contact with it, so I use it along with facial tissue instead of cotton pads-I hate it when cotton pads leave lint residues on my eyes.

I wouldn't advise you to use it all over your face because Mineral Oil is a comedogenic substance. Apart from mascara removal, it also works as a mess- free product to perform spot makeup removal, especially when you create mistakes in makeup application. What I like about it is it helps me economize on my Shu Uemura cleansing oils.

It's an okay product, although a little pricey considering that its use is quite limited. I'd only recommend it to the fans of Majolica Majorca's mascaras.

  2. There was a time when I used to endure cloudy vision, the uncomfortable stinging sensation, and the unbelievable amount of effort that it took to remove waterproof mascara.

Ever since I tried shu cleansing oils, I never looked back. But MM Eyes Reset looks like a nice alternative, ha. It's not too pricey.

I use tissue when removing eye makeup as well. I poke my eyes when I use cotton pads lol.

  3. I thought it was an eye primer too! But I like the idea of this product, despite its limited use, it'll still come in handy for some of us who are mad about mascaras! I don't wear mascara on an everyday basis though just because I hate how heavy my lashes feel when I have them on, so I just save them for special days. If I remember correctly, Etude House has one of these as well! Its much more affordable & should work just the same. xx

  6. Sharleen: Hi there and welcome to TBJ! Wow? Really? Then glad to have informed you then! :D

cj: Maybe soon enough, they'll have one. :)

Jemimah: Packaging looks deceiving, eh? :) Thanks for sharing your insights. :) The one by Etude House, if I'm not mistaken, is a dual phase liquid remover. :)

BrownOso: Same here! Shu Uemura is the best! This one's quite an effort to use, but I'm glad it helps me save some of my precious shu uemura oil! :D

Rhain: Awww...You should've washed your eyes the second time then. :) that's what I do. :)
