THE VERDICT:

Aside from the fantabulous experience I had with Olay Singapore and some of the best Bloggers in Asia, I am equally thankful for that Blogger event in Sydney as well for I have met one of my absolute favorite moisturizers to date. Well, I only have one and that's Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream. I still love it, but I'm lately, I've been looking for something that's even lighter, more cooling to the skin, and friendlier to makeup and found these in Olay's Aquaction Moisturizer. First time I used it, I was smitten and have been using it continuously until now. It's super comfortable on the skin and despite the lack of natural oil ingredients like Kiehl's, (oil is arguably the best skin humectant) it does a very decent job at keeping my skin 'pump-pump bouncy', as advertised.

OLAY AQUACTION MOISTURIZER LONG-LASTING HYDRATION GEL IN DETAIL

Olay Aquaction Moisturizer proves that they're not a brand that's exclusive to the older generation only. The Aquaction range is specifically formulated to address the prime need of young skin: Hydration. The range includes a Sleeping Pack, hydrating toner, sheet masks, and a rich gel emulsion which I believe is intended for night time use. It promises 24-hour hydration with the Hydralock Technology and WSK extract.

Let's do some ingredient study here. It may not contain oil as its main hydrator, but it does contain good moisture- retaining and inducing ingredients such as Glycol, Glycerin, and Aloe Leaf and Cucumber Juice extracts. I'm also happy that Niacinamide is right at the top part of the list as well, meaning this tub contains a considerable amount of it. (Why do I care so much about Niacinamide? Click HERE to know why)

WSK is an extract from the Tremellis Mushroom, which was proven to be more powerful than Hyaluronic Acid. It is also believed that this plant was heavily used by the legendary Yang Guifei in her beauty rituals.

So let's now have some history lesson here. Yang Guifei is one of the four beauties of ancient China. Legend has it that Yang Guifei was so beautiful, the emperor would always be distracted every time he'll see her. Another interesting fact is, she's the inspiration behind Olay Aquaction!

Find out why I love this moisturizer after the jump!

Tub is very similar to the rest of Olay's moisturizer products, but this time, it's in a bright, calming shade of Blue, which also happens to be my most favorite color.

The tub is quite heavy and space- consuming though, and the protective cover there does get stuck in the pot most of the time that's why I ditched it. The protruding handle there is supposed to help you lift the cover easily, but it's pretty useless in my opinion. :p

It's a pool! It's Jell-O! No, it's Olay Aquaction! :D

Product has this inviting baby blue color, which totally reminds of the beach. It's so nice that I always end up staring at it while imagining taking a dip in the sea right before using it lol! It has a very strong aquatic floral scent laced with alcohol-some people who are sensitive to fragrances may not like this, but it's pretty pleasing to me so I can tolerate it even if I prefer my skin care products unscented. I also noticed that it doesn't last that long. I've only been using it for two months and I am 70% done with it already. Maybe because it's in gel form and I always feel the need to use more or it's just that gel- based products tend to evaporate faster than cream. This is why I seal the tub quickly after use!

Consistency is a very light, watery gel and it spreads fairly easily-one pea-sized amount for the forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks would suffice. It takes a minute or two for it to be completely absorbed by the skin and it settles into a semi-matte finish, but sans the dry and tight feeling. It also imparts this cooling sensation and I find that very, very refreshing. It's very effective at soothing dry areas in a jiffy and provides a very good base for makeup. It's also the kind of moisturizer that doesn't feel 'hot' and thick on the skin when you sweat. Didn't really observe if the 24-hour hydration promise is true, but what I know is it keeps my skin very soft and feeling healthy and 'normal' during wear even outdoors or in air-conditioned places.

It's a very nice and light moisturizer for summer, especially for those with very oily and combination-oily skin types, but don't think that this is enough to keep oil at bay. I know hydration solves excessive oil production, but this product is not meant to do that-it's just a basic moisturizer that makes your skin feel nice. I also don't think that this is good enough for those with severely dry and aged skin types because even if it's hydrating, it's not emollient enough to tame dry areas all- throughout the day.

I think I tweeted once and asked if there's anybody I know who's in Singapore or about to go to Singapore because I want to ask them a favor and get some backups of this product for me. That's how much I love this product because it perfectly suits my skin needs and desires at the moment and lord, oh lord, it's so perfect for our climate! To sum up my experience, this moisturizer is like a drink of cold water for the skin.

If you have oily or combination-oily skin, or you just want a very tolerable, zero- clogging moisturizer, I would recommend this! Sad that it's not available locally though!
