 THE VERDICT:

When in Japan, you shouldn't miss the chance to try out various Japanese beauty brands because they're some of the world's best. It would help if you'll research before your trip to save time and money, but leave some for discovery also!

I have a reader who requested for a list of Japanese makeup and skin care brands to buy in Japan; will be writing about that this Friday at Fan Mail Fridays. For starters, here's one that I would recommend: Kanebo Kose Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil, one of Japan's best- selling cleansing oils. This oil facilitates quick makeup removal and leaves skin supple.

KANEBO KOSE SOFTYMO SPEEDY CLEANSING OIL IN DETAIL

This best- seller promises to remove makeup gently, quickly, and effectively without leaving the skin dry, and transforms into a milky cleanser to cut down your cleansing time.

Softymo comes in the variants Speedy Cleansing and White Cleansing Oil that has whitening properties. Apparently, this has been reformulated already to better remove stubborn mascara and eyeliner, and now features 5 certified organic cleansing oils to keep skin healthy and supple.

This is a screenshot of the English ingredients list taken from ratzillacosme.com:

KANEBO KOSE SOFTYMO SPEEDY CLEANSING OIL IN ACTION

This oil is lightweight, runny, and a little amount goes a long way just because it is very spreadable. Despite its sheer texture, it effectively dissolves makeup and quickly at that. It's also fragrance- free so that's a plus for those who are allergic to fragrances in skin care. The product dissolves waterproof mascara and eyeliner; even if it clouds my vision during usage, it rinses off easily leaving no residue, although it stings for a wee bit. The product emulsifies when mixed with water, making it an instant facial wash. I still use a regular facial wash to remove this product though to make sure that no trace of dirt is left.

After rinsing my skin, it feels supple, but not oily. No breakouts with this product so far and I love that it leaves my skin feeling clean but with no oily residue.

Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil lives up to its name: it removes makeup quickly and comes off skin quickly too. I can see why this is a best- seller: it delivers very well, but isn't expensive. I'd love to grab some again when I visit either Japan or Hong Kong!

  1. Aww.. too bad it's only available in Japan. I hope they start selling it here too so we can try it as well. I haven't heard of this brand before and have only really been using makeup remover wipes or Bioré's cleansing oil which I sometimes find sticky on the skin as I can feel them leave a film of residue so I always end up still washing my face a couple of times afterwards to make it squeaky clean. I wonder if this would eliminate that need. Thanks for sharing this! I hope you had a fun time in Japan (your pics show you did 😉).

  2. But I think I like water cleansers now instead of oils Ms. Martha kasi I have oily skin eh. Hihihi. And I don't use heavy make up naman. It will always just lipsticks at mascara or blush on. Hahaha. But if I'll be able to go to Japan this year. I'll definitely look at beauty products :)

  10. Surely, there are a lot of great Japanese skincare and beauty products! I just hope that in the near future, those brands will be available here too. I actually prefer water or gel-based cleansers because I have oily skin. I try oil-based products from time to time and I think this is a must-try. Your ratings and review on the products says a lot about how good it is.

  11. It's very affordable ah! I can't get overt the price! :D However, are cleansing oils good for oily skin too? I stick to micellar water for my makeup remover because I'm so scared of adding oil to my face! :D
