As follow up for my Fan Mail Fridays post about how to correct light foundations, here are tips on how to correct dark foundation.

Have you ever had a foundation that looks light on the shade representation on the website, but when you got it, the shade is a tad bit dark for your skin tone? We've all had that moment. I'm a morena and I even have my fair share of this problem!

Here are five ways to correct dark foundation without having to throw or give away the bottle.

Is your foundation too light? Here's a way to correct light foundation.

1. LIGHTEN UP WITH CONCEALER

- Applying concealer on the center of the forehead, under eyes, bridge of the nose, philtrum, and chin to add 'push out' the dark tone of your foundation, giving the illusion of evenness.

2. HIGHLIGHT OR STROBE

- Adding a pop of highlighter on the highest points of your face it catch and refract light, thus giving the illusion of a brighter skin tone.

3. BRIGHTEN UP WITH A LIGHTER SHADE OF POWDER

- There's no reason to dread the white cast after all! Lighter powders or powders with a hint of white case will help lighten up the dark foundation. Just apply sparingly to avoid camera flashback.

4. USE FOUNDATION ADJUSTERS

- Grab a bottle of a foundation adjuster, the white one, and mix with the foundation to lighten up the shade. But this is my last resort because as I said in the counterpart post, I'm a bit wary of foundation adjusters because they may end up altering the formula of any foundation.

SPECIAL TIP: When buying online and you are unsure of what shade to get, get a shade that's half a shade or one shade lighter; because for me, it's always easy to correct a lighter foundation than a darker one!

Hope this helped you out. Feel free to share with me your own tips!
