THE VERDICT:

After the success of her Beginner Brush Set, Anne Clutz released a fitting follow up called Eye Essentials Brush Set; because eye makeup is a department that requires a serious amount of brushes! I'm actually excited for this set because to date, Anne Clutz Brushes is one of the only two local beauty brush brands I know that came up with an eye brush collection (First is Suesh!). Also, the collection is perfect for small eyes!

Let's check it out!

Anne Clutz Eye Essentials Makeup Brush Set features 10 eye brushes; they have a taupe gray metallic color and bristles are made with a mix of natural and synthetic fibers. The brushes are named, which makes it friendly for those who are still learning the art of eye makeup. However, the handles are a bit slim and slippery for me so I have to keep a steady grip when using it. If you have small hands, this won't be a problem. But props to Anne for including a dual ended brow- spoolie brush; I love this brow brush format because it's so travel- friendly!

From left to right:

1. Tapered Blender- for applying accent color on above crease or diffusing color all over lid
2. Smudger- for smudging eyeliner/dark eyeshadow; works in applying highlighter on inner corners of the eye as well.
3. Angled Shader- for creating creases
4. Flat Blender- for blurring harsh powder edges on crease
5. Pencil brush- for creating precise, sharp edges and lines
6. Flat Shader- for applying pigment/concentrated color on the lids
7. Rounded Top Blender- for blending colors
8. Brow + Spoolie- for grooming brows and lashes
9. Crease (small brush)- for applying concentrated color on crease
10. Shader- for applying a wash of color on the lid

The bristles are made from a mix of synthetic and natural hair fibers; they're quite dense and only shed during the initial wash; I did the tug test on these and they resisted quite nicely. Generally, they're smooth, but for the ones made with natural hair fibers, there's a bit of texture, but don't worry, it will not scratch the skin.

Things I like about this brush set is: 1. All the brushes are useful despite some repetitive ones. 2. There's an ample amount of eyeshadow blenders YAS! This brush is my favorite when doing eye makeup! This brush set also has small and medium- sized brushes and they are perfect for ladies with small eyes whether Chinese, thin, and even Almond- shaped; Anne has really thought about this!

Overall, I like this brush set; in fact, I even like it more than the Beginner Brush Set because it is a specialized set; it's got a generous number of eye shadow blenders, it's affordable for a set of 10 plus a pouch, and it's got almost everything you need to come up with a lovely eye makeup look.
