THE VERDICT:

I like sci- fi stuff and I've always been fascinated by space and beyond; when I was still a young, wide- eyed theatre actress, I've dreamed of starring in a Star Wars/Star Trek/Battlestar Galactica-esque film someday. It's pretty obvious now that my marketing career won't allow that, but hey, at least I could re-live my sci-fi fantasies through makeup and with Revlon in particular with this new collection that's geared towards the young, the bold, the non-conformist, or simply the sci-fi fans like me.

Revlon Shoot The Moon is the stuff of cosmic dreams; this bold and brazen collection is not your typical mass beauty collection, but for some reason, it gets you hooked!

Shoot The Moon makeup limited edition collection, the latest from Revlon, is comprised of face, lip, and eye products in extraordinary, limited edition colors. Let's take a look at the collection below:

Revlon shoot the moon makeup collection draping palette sunset on mars
Sunset on Mars

Revlon Shoot The Moon Draping Palette (P725) comes in two shades: Sunset on Mars and Sunset on Pluto. It's actually a blush-contour-highlight palette, but named after a makeup technique that Revlon has popularized in the 70's called DRAPING; this technique is sculpting the cheeks using powder blush instead of contouring powder. With this collection, Revlon hopes to revive that technique and introduce its wonders to the new generation. I used to contour my cheeks with blush; didn't know it's called Draping; cool!

Contouring powder- midtone peachy brown with a taupe undertone.
Blush- shimmering peach pink (NARS ORGASM DUPE ALERT!)
Highlighter- shimmering gold

The powders are soft, silky, and very pigmented; they're very easy to blend, although yield a bit of fallout. Sunset on Mars is ideal for fairer skin tones while Sunset on Pluto is ideal for warmer skin tones.

Revlon shoot the moon makeup collection eye paint and super lustrous gloss
Super Lustrous Gloss in Neptune Blue and Cosmic Queen; Eye Paint in Cosmic Dust and Mystic Aura
Super Lustrous Gloss (P350) comes in 4 shades. Eye Paint (P575) comes in 4 shades as well.

The gloss is Revlon's classic formula and has a glass- like look and emulsion feel. Eye Paint is a very pigmented cream eyeshadow that's versatile enough to be used as an eyeliner, eyeshadow base, or cream shadow.

Revlon shoot the moon makeup collection lipsticks
Matte Lipsticks in Power Move, Blue Sky, and Stardust; Glitter Lipstick in So Starry; Metallic Lipstick in Purple Aura
Here are the Shoot The Moon Matte/Glitter/Metallic lipsticks (P350). Revlon's matte lipsticks are buttery, balmy, and yield a dewy matte look; it's very pigmented and one swipe gives me good coverage; gosh it's been a while since I used their matte lipsticks; I'm pleased with the texture!

The glitter and metallic lipsticks are a bit gritty due to the heavy glitter concentration, but I feel that the products are really designed like that; they're not irritating, at least to me. Glitter lipstick has sheer to medium pigmentation and metallic lipstick has medium to full pigmentation

The only product from the collection that Revlon Philippines did not bring in is the Jelly Highlighter.

Let's test out these cosmic beauties! Will Shoot The Moon makeup products work on Filipina skin? Find out.

Here's me wearing the the Eye Paint in a different way; it's cream eyeshadow, but the things you can with it are almost endless. It's very pigmented and it shows up even if used as an eyeliner; it adds that funky twist to your good ol' black/brown eyeliner.

The Eye Paint is amazing! I love that it's so pigmented and very long- lasting; it sets fairly quickly though so be sure to blend it out right away. It's a creamy mousse that glides on easily; I didn't have a hard time using it when I created this look. Mystic Aura is an instant favorite because its peacock blue, jewel tone suits morena skin perfectly; itt's a great shade to use if you want to instantly turn your daytime look into a night time look.

Here's me wearing Sunset on Mars; I initially thought that the contouring powder would look orange on me, but it didn't; the taupe undertone balanced out the peachiness of the powder. On my cheeks is the blush; it's not that visible in this photo (must have accidentally tweaked my camera settings at this point), but can be layered on to increase intensity. The gold highlighter is very pigmented too and suits morena skin tones perfectly as well. The powders have decent staying power.

Moving on to the lip products:

Revlon shoot the moon makeup collection lipstick blue sky
Matte Lipstick in Blue Sky
Blue Sky is an instant favorite of mine! This one of the nicest blue lipsticks I have tried, next to Make Up For Ever's X Icona Pop lipstick collection. Depending on which skin tone it's on, it tends to look Royal Blue or Indigo Blue; on morena and warmer skin tones, it's more Indigo Blue; a beautiful blue, nonetheless.

Revlon shoot the moon makeup collection lipstick stardust
Matte Lipstick in Stardust
Stardust is a very unique and beautiful shade. It's a mushroom gray shade with a taupe undertone; why does this shade remind me of planet Pluto??? This is actually very wearable and looks good on any skin tone. If you are looking for an extreme taupe/gray lipstick that actually looks good, try this.

Revlon shoot the moon makeup collection lipstick power move
Matte Lipstick in Power Move

Power Move, by all means, is the most basic shade in the collection; with that, I mean it's a shade that's part of any consumer lipstick line; it's a deep red with purple undertones. Still a pretty shade!

Revlon shoot the moon makeup collection lipstick so starry
Glitter lipstick in So Starry
So Starry is a chromatic milky lavender and silver shade; it can be used on its own, but performs better if used as a topper.

Revlon shoot the moon makeup collection lipstick power move and so starry
Here's Power Move + So Starry; the latter instantly levels up any matte lipstick!

Revlon shoot the moon makeup collection lipstick purple aura
Metallic Lipstick in Purple Aura
Purple Aura is a metallic duochrome lilac and violet shade. I went for this because it reminds me of MAC X Disney Villains Maleficent Lipstick in Violetta; that was my most favorite MAC makeup collab!

Revlon shoot the moon makeup collection super lustrous gloss neptune blue
Super Lustrous Gloss Neptune Blue
Neptune Blue is a metallic blue with silver shimmer. It's surprisingly pigmented; you can apply a sheer layer for a touch of blue and apply two coats for maximum Sailor Mercury realnezz.

Revlon shoot the moon makeup collection super lustrous gloss cosmic queen
Super Lustruous Lipstick in Cosmic Queen
Cosmic Queen is a metallic fuchsia with lilac and silver shimmer; this shade is sooo 80's and I love it!

Revlon shoot the moon makeup collection super lustrous gloss neptune blue close up
Revlon's Super Lustrous Lip Gloss line has become more pigmented so kudos to that. However, it has a bit of stickiness to it so be sure your hair is pulled up if you're using this product. Staying power is okay since it's gloss, but formula is very soothing and moisturizing to the lips.

Revlon shoots for the stars with this collection; it's not something that most makeup fans would possibly want or even take a second look at because 80% of the product is not good for everyday, but in an industry where there's already a thousand and one everyday makeup collections, an imaginative one like this is a breather. Besides, people are more adventurous now with color and I can see the reason behind the collection.

As a makeup lover, I love this collection because not only it is unique and definitely a collectible, but also it offers an affordable alternative to makeup colors and shades that you will only find in pricier, pro makeup brands, and you need every now and then for special events.

I highly recommend the eye paint, draping palette, and matte lipsticks!

P.S. Grab at least one glitter lipstick; I'm telling you, it's great for spicing up regular lipstick color!
