THE VERDICT:

What's a makeup topper, anyway? It can range from a waterproofing powder, highlighting veil/powder, shimmer powder, or a correcting powder; it's the last glam touch to your makeup and technically, it helps bring back the naturalness of the skin and counteracts the finish of matte makeup.
Next to makeup mists and setting sprays, I think makeup toppers will be the next big thing in every makeup routine.

Skinpotions gets ahead of the trend with Glow Dust, a multi-tasking finishing powder that adds luscious glow to the skin. After using these powders for a couple of times, I realized, they're a good alternative to Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders!

Ingredients

Skinpotions Glow Dust promises to give skin a lit-from-within glow. It adds a soft, shimmering veil on the skin while promising to keep makeup intact and control oil. The powder comes in three shades for fair, medium, and morena skin tones.

The packaging is cute, but I find it a bit wasteful with the oversized cardboard and acetate slide on cover; it can me much simpler without losing the cuteness factor; perhaps a regular carton with suffice and just make the design holographic for cuteness?

This kit I received is called a PR Kit; yes, Skinpotions actually called it a PR kit because this is the kit that they send to influencers, bloggers, and vloggers for a feature, but I saw on their IG that they're thinking of selling this to the public as well because it's so darn pretty, plus the box contains stickers to boot; wish they do and please recycle the chest box when you purchase. There's a sticker sheet included in the box as well.

Selling PR kit versions of products is a practice started by Colourpop, I believe, and a lot of brands are following suit; perhaps they took inspiration from Colourpop for this.

The product comes in a classic sifter jar packaging. The protective sticker though popped out upon opening because of the powder; given this, just be careful when opening to prevent spillage.

There are three shades available:

Extra- pale yellow with microshimmer
Sizzle- midtone champagne with microshimmer
Drama- medium shade with microshimmer

The shimmers are quite subtle and the powder feels fine; the powders have a vanilla- like scent, if I remember correctly. Coverage is light to medium. You may think that the shades look alike, but in person, you'll be able to see that there's a difference between the three in the shades department, but the camera hasn't done the shades some justice.

AFTER: With one layer of Skinptions Glow Dust in Dream
I used a fluffy brush to dust the powder all over my skin; it's best applied in a wispy, circular motion to prevent patches and to create a more radiant glow.

The effect in this photo is just pretty subtle, but you can see that some points of my face are glowing, like my cheeks, nose, and brow bone arch. Glow Dust also doubles as a highlighter.

Staying power is okay; it does not control oil, but I like that the radiant effect lasts for a good amount of time.

The effect reminds me of Hourglass Ambient Powders: subtle yet noticeable, light, natural, radiant. Of course, there are things about Hourglass that are amazing and worth the buck, but if you're on a tight budget, Skinptions Glow Dust is an affordable option! Drama is my favorite because it's good for warm skin!a

Have you tried these already? What are you toughts?
