THE VERDICT:
When I was starting with Beauty Blogging, The Balm's blushes were on everyone's lips and it's also one of the first expensive blushes I've had as well (they were expensive for a then student). The Balm's blushes are pretty much a classic; it's a well- known product in beauty circles, specifically Hot Mama. In fact, The Balm's Instain blushes were once a huge favorite of mine and I remember using them for a long time!
To tell you the truth, I've never owned these two best- sellers: Hot Mama and Take Home The Bronze. It's my first time using them and glad I got these in the bag because I finally understand why they're famous; they're go- to classic shades of blush and bronzer!
Take Home The Bronze and Hot Mama ingredients |
Take Home The Bronze is an anti- orange bronzer collection to add a sun- kissed bronze hue to the features or define a contour that's full of golden goodness and sans the dreaded orange undertone: it comes in three shades: Olive, Thomas, and Greg.
Hot Mama is a blush, illuminator, and eyeshadow in one. The soft peach finish makes it perfect for a monotone look for the lids and cheeks.
The Balm's pocketable magnetic carton palette is their signature packaging; it's one of my favorite product packaging ever because it's compact, pretty, and overall, great!
L-R: Hot Mama and Take Home The Bronze |
Hot Mama is the classic peachy pink blush with gold shimmer. Does that description ring a bell? Does it ring Nars Orgasm? If that's what you are thinking, then you are right because Hot Mama has been dubbed as the affordable dupe of Nars's best- selling blush!
As for Hot Mama's quality, it's a smooth, buttery blush with medium to heavy pigmentation. Shade is midtone peach with golden sheen.
Take Home The Bronze is a creamy matte blush with medium to heavy pigmentation. Thomas is a medium deep shade with golden undertone; it's the perfect shade for morenas.
Here's me with Hot Mama. Indeed, this is a dupe for Nars Orgasm, but to be completely honest, I like this more than Nars Orgasm because it shows up better on me; Nars Orgasm is pretty, but I find it to be well- suited to fairer skin tones.
Staying power for both is great; stays put for the whole day with very minimal fading.
I highly recommend the two if you're looking to purchase something for the cheeks from The Balm!
Have you tried these already? What are your thoughts and favorites?
