THE VERDICT:
Since time immemorial, Milk is one of the go- to, all- natural ingredients to achieve fair, flawless, and baby- soft skin; Cleopatra knew it all along!
When I started getting into skin care products, I remember, I would usually go for those infused with milk; I guess I was at a point when I was ready to become a woman, but the child in me still wanted something familiar to make my transition easy (cue in Britney Spears' I'm not a girl not yet a woman).
Fresh Skinlab has just released their new skin care collection called Milk White; it's a bath and face skin care collection made with the goodness of milk. It's one of Fresh Skinlab's products that I was looking forward to using and now, here are my thoughts.
Fresh Skinlab Milk White is a whitening and moisturizing skin care range made with milk and infused with Glutathione, AHA, and BHA to help give brighter, fairer- looking skin. The ones I have are just part of the entire collection, which consists of these plus a body lotion (different variants), tone- up sun cream, shampoo, conditioner, hair pack, and body scrub.
Milk White Whip Foaming Soap ingredients
Whipping soaps are all the rage lately and I'm joining the bandwagon because I love foamy soaps; reminds me so much of bubble baths and childhood. Fresh Milk White Whip Foaming Soap is sealed in a paper wrapper and comes with a mesh. It has a milky scent, but there's a sharp, synthetic odor that swirls in the milky fragrance; not that bothersome though; just my observation.
The foaming mesh, however, gave up 2 minutes into my bath; the string snapped and the soap kept on sliding out of it and good thing I had extra mesh hanging in the bathroom.
The soap is pretty foamy, but I've had foamier soaps; not complaining though as long as it produces whipped foam! Aside from the foamy suds it produces, I like that it doesn't leave my skin dry, itchy, scaly, and taut.
Milk White Brightening Jelly Peel ingredients
This is a gel exfoliator; I remember the time when Cure was the only one of its kind in the Philippines, but eventually, this product became ubiquitous and much more affordable, like this one.
Texture is a milky gel with a milk scent; it doesn't reek of alcohol so it's nice and comfortable to use. Just a small amount is all I need to get some serious exfoliation on my skin. After usage, my skin feels soft, smooth, clean and looks bright and even- looking. I love that the formula has AHA and BHA namely Malic, Lactic, and Glycolic acids, which are generally gentle acids; big fan of two of the acids it has two namely Lactic and Glycolic!
Milk White Body Wash ingredients
Top: Brightening Jelly Peel
Bottom: Body Wash
The body wash smells really nice! It smells like vanilla milk and it's such a treat for the body and senses whenever I am scrubbing myself in the shower. It's rich and creamy; I don't need a lot in every use and it doesn't leave my skin scaly nor completely dry after showering. I make sure to apply the complementary Milk White lotion right after bathing, most likely at night, to sustain the lovely milky scent on my skin; this product's fragrance sits well with my skin and I love the calming scent of sweet milk!
Finally, we have the Milk White Tone Up powder. It's a face powder in a baby powder- inspired packaging and smells like milk with a hint of florals. It's fine powder with shimmer; I like the smooth texture and mattifying effect, but I'm not so sure with the shimmer in it; I find the shimmers a bit chunky and a bit too much considering it's an everyday, basic powder. It's tone up because it makes skin turn a shade lighter; check out the swatch on top. You just have to blend it evenly. Otherwise, you will get an obvious layer of white powder on you skin.
Regarding oil control, it's decent: 3 hours before my skin begins to show up. I wouldn't expect this to perform like a pro setting powder because it's not; it's great for everyday especially those who only have minimal needs like evening out the skin tone and looking fairer.
What can I say about the Milk White line? I like it! Whitening aside, I love anything with milk, especially beauty products that smell like it; this is one of the reasons why I would recommend this range, plus the products have pretty good performance too. One word to describe the line is it's NON-DRYING so for those who are looking for a whitening skin care range that won't make your skin dry, this is something worth checking out. My favorites from this line are the whipping soap, brightening jelly peel, and body wash.
P.S. Fresh has been a subject of FDA's callouts lately and some products from this skin care range are included in FDA's consumer warning list. Fresh has since released a statement pertaining to that so check it out. I've been using this range for about 2 weeks now and my skin is still okay. Up to you on whether you would like to try or pass up on their products for now until the their issue gets resolved. But if Fresh is all clear than definitely, I would def recommend Milk White!
Have you tried these products already? What do you think?
