THE VERDICT:

I'm part of the population that believes that hair color needs to be expensive for it to be good and effective, whether you choose to have it done in the salon or at home; I'd like to believe that this belief of mine was inspired by my mom, who loves coloring her hair, but would always prefer to have hers done in the salon because she believes that salon- colored hair is always best.

Thinking about it now, I'd like to believe that my mom formed this belief because the choices for hair products then weren't as diverse and good as now. But thanks to advancements in beauty technology, great hair is now within reach even if it's just DIY.

One great example of this advanced hair product that I'm talking about is this new discovery from Great Lengths called ICOLOR SHAMPOO IN HAIR COLOR. For only P60, you get great quality hair color that's very easy to use and most of all, non- sting and has no strong odor! This is one of my best finds last month! IColor Shampoo In Hair Color made with organic ingredients; it has nourishing, protecting, and replenishing ingredients for hair color that's shiny, fresh, and healthy.

Ingredients

iColor has 8 shades, mostly in the shades of brown and red. There's one color that says triple color changer, which is interesting and great for those who like that changing color effect for their hair.

Each iColor pack contains a 30ml sachet of color and a pair of plastic gloves.

Here's the product. When you pour it out, white fluid comes first followed by a translucent brown liquid, which is the dye. The color of the translucent liquid depends on the hair color you choose; this shade is Dark Brown 08.

Make sure to mix the liquids thoroughly before usage.

Here's my hair before coloring it with IColor in Dark Brown 08. I think my hair has about 4 colors already LOL.

The product is fairly easy to use and I love that it has no irritating ammonia scent. I have shoulder length hair and I used two packs of iColor.

The process was fairly easy simply because the product is an emulsion- type liquid that's very spreadable and easy to massage in.

If there's one thing that I'd like to caution you about, it's the staining; I made the mistake of choosing to be careless and I didn't wipe the stains from my skin right away and let it stay in the entire course of the hair color session thinking I could clean it up later and I ended up with soft stains on my skin for about two days; I was able to remove 90% of the stains with alcohol and micellar water, but the rest, I had to let them fade naturally. Lesson learned: wipe away the dye stains right away and wear a coloring cape!

Instructions state to let the color stay for 30- 45 minutes. I let mine stay for about an hour because I wanted a deeper color, which is close to my natural hair color.

Why is this called SHAMPOO IN, if you may ask? It's because the product has built in shampoo (which I believe is color- friendly) that gets activated by water so you don't have to use a separate shampoo upon rinsing; this means that you get to preserve the hair color in its most vulnerable state by skipping usage of commercial shampoos. How convenient!

And after the session, voila! This is my hair! I'm shookt!

I am honestly impressed by this! I mean, I don't mind using affordable hair color, but that belief still kicks in once in a while whenever I have to color my hair and personally, I don't think I'll ever choose hair color that's P60 only, but good thing I tried iColor! If not, I wouldn't discover this super affordable, great hair color find that lets me save a good amount of money from hair treatments that I can allot to other, more important expenses. The best part is the color is rich, nice, and the formula did not dry out my hair.

iColor is great for a quick hair color change at home or as an affordable retouching product for gray hair. I'm really happy with this product and I now don't mind using very affordable hair color, thanks to iColor. Indeed, don't judge a book by its cover! :D
