THE VERDICT:
I used to wear liquid foundation A LOT, but this pandemic has truly changed my beauty approach. I can even count the days I wore liquid foundation (and a liquid face base for that matter) last year. One main reason why I stopped wearing liquid foundation (unless it was a very special occasion that I went to) was I couldn't stand the warm, muggy feeling of wearing foundation under a face mask; it always feels like I couldn't breathe in general plus I HATE (with a passion) heavy makeup transfers on my face mask; it's so icky and dirty to me.
Then I received a couple of foundations last year including this one from Laura Mercier: Flawless Lumiere Radiance Perfecting Foundation. I actually ended up liking this one because I find it to be really mask- friendly yet does the job in giving skin an even, radiant look; plus points because it has pretty good staying power too and doesn't stain my face mask too much!
Laura Mercier Flawless Lumiere Radiance Perfecting Foundation promises to deliver medium to full coverage, 15 hours of hydration, and a glowing finish that looks radiant in any light. It has Vitamin C to help lighten skin tone and Silver Ear Mushroom extract to soothe and hydrate the skin. Flexible polymers help the product adapt to the skin for a comfortable wear and color- true pigments helps resist oxidation. Non-comedogenic. Dermatologist- tested. The range comes in 34 shades (wow!).
Consistency is gel- cream and this feels very emulsion- like, but you could see that it's rich in pigment. Finish is dewy with a teeny hint of matte, but I can't necessarily call it semi- matte. it is unscented too.
Bisque is a medium dark brown shade with tan undertones. It's just a bit too orange for me, but good thing I could remedy the undertone with powder. If I'll buy this again, I'll choose a different shade.
Bare skin
With one layer of the foundation
On most days, I'm good with one layer just to minimize the appearance of redness and dark spots. It feels so light, even lighter than moisturizer! I've layered this twice one time and it still felt pretty light, more like a tinted moisturizer. It's very easy to even out as well and you can apply this with a brush or your fingers and you'll still get a good finish either way; I love foundations that can be applied and blended by fingers!
I set this with Laura Mercier Translucent pressed powder. I like how the foundation just gives you that fresh look and even complexion without the weight.
As for staying power, it can keep my oilies at bay for 3 hours before I retouch and it does minimal transfer on face mask.
I love how this product is formulated for daily face mask usage and makeup wear: it's lightweight, comfortable, sheer but has good coverage, and has good staying power.
I think all in all it's good that the circumstance has pushed me to stop wearing liquid foundation because I got to reset my preferences and became more open to trying out new ones (and great discoveries at that!) like this one from Laura Mercier.
