THE VERDICT:
Chu Chu Beauty is one of the darling brands of local Tiktok. How can you not pay attention to these super cute makeup products? They're literally eye- catching and the best part? They very affordable too.
But how's the performance? I say pretty good, especially these new products called Heart Blush and Heart Lip Balm. Swatching a few below!
Heart Blush and Heart Lip Balm are the newest products of Chu Chu Beauty. Chu Chu Beauty is paraben- free and cruelty- free.
As for the packaging, it's very cute and doesn't feel cheap; I reckon that the colors chosen made a difference too and have made the products appear a bit classy. However, the compacts are VERY hard to open. I have to use a pen or anything with a solid, protruding tip to pry open the compacts. I hope this will be addressed soon.
Heart Blush is a duo blush compact that comes with two complementing colors; you can use each as a blush or use one as a blush and the other as sort of a contouring product.
There are only three shade combinations: Miss Dolly is a combination of candy pink and rosy pink and great for fair skin tones, Pretty Betty is a medium peach and coral combo and ideal for medium skin tones, and Dear Lily is a combination of warm rose and terracotta and great for warm and deep skin tones. The first time I swatched Miss Dolly, I thought that the lighter pink blush on Miss Dolly can be a good alternative to Dior Rosy Glow Blush, but Dior has that unique blue undertone while Chu Chu Beauty's very neutral; I'd say that it's just a 30% alternative.
Texture is a bit dry because finish is matte. It's VERY pigmented so don't swirl, just tap your brush because it's enough to pick up some product.
Here are the shades. Sorry, I decided to not swatch them all because I honestly won't be able to use everything, not even in this lifetime because of the sheer volume of products that I have and once I swatch these products, it's hard to give them away since these products directly come into contact with the lips. I don't want to pass my germs to others lol.
I just picked the color that I liked and that is Coral Flush. It's a bit dark in the pan, but comes off as a semi- light shade of coral. It has a nice, fruity fragrance, softens my lips upon contact, and adds a bit of color to the lips; layer it on twice to get better color payoff.
Here's me wearing Pretty Betty. It flatters my skin and I really like the coral blush shade. Finish is matte and doesn't look cakey. Staying power is okay; it fades during wear especially if you have oily skin, but I can still see a bit of product on my skin
The lip balm doesn't have pretty good staying power: after about 30 minutes, the color begins to fade and my lips start feeling dry (I have very dry lips btw). It's something that you have to re-apply often. I would probably only wear this on quick trips for errands; also makes a good, affordable lip prep too.
Between the two, I would highly recommend the blush because it's affordable, pigmented, and the shades are generally flattering on a lot of skin types. The lip balm is okay, but I could get more affordable lip balms that have better staying power. Maybe teens will like the lip balm because I think most teens don't really care too much about pigmentation, staying power, and all those technicalities of makeup-just the fact that it's cute, light, and teen- friendly.
Have you tried these products already? What do you think?
