THE VERDICT:

My favorite DIY wax now comes in a new and yummier formulation!

Strip It says:

The new Strip It Chocolate Sugaring has real Cacao extracts that give extra moisturizing effects on the skin after your sugaring session. It leaves a yummy chocolate-y scent to your skin too! Cacao is known to hydrate the skin and turns dry skin smooth and soft, giving light natural glow.

The smell is the same as the classic Strip It wax, but this one has a hint of chocolate in it. It's still made using the ingredients used in the classic wax, but the difference is that this one's more moisturizing than the old one. The old one leaves my underarms sort of dry, while the new one leaves my skin supple and moisturized.

Here's a comparison of the new Sugaring Chocolate Wax with the Classic Sugaring Wax.

As you can see, the new wax is thicker than the classic one. The Classic one is more runny and best used in its cold state, and the new one works best whether used Hot or Cold. The classic wax has natural honey extracts in it, while the new one has Cacao extracts in it.

Perhaps the reason why the new wax is thicker and more solid than the classic one is because Cacao is sticky and goopy by nature, while Honey is more runny than the former.

Yuck. I know. :p

As you can see, the new wax truly rids your body of unwanted hair! The wax took out this much in one stripping! It's good because your skin won't suffer too much from all that tugging and pulling.

However, since the new wax is harder and stickier, it has a tendency to roll up into a ball during application. Here's how you can make the new Strip It Chocolate Wax work:

1. Apply a good amount of baby powder on the part to be waxed. Dust off excess.

2. Using the spatula that comes with the waxing kit, soften the wax in the tub by gently mixing it. Continue doing so until the wax becomes soft and spreadable. You don't have to mix the entire wax in the tub. Estimate the amount of wax you're going to use, prod the spatula into that part, and start mixing. What I do is I prod the wax at the edges of the tub using the spatula.

3. Apply wax on a particular body part. The amount of wax you'll apply shouldn't be too thin or too thick. Apply just enough, making sure that you can somehow see the hair strands underneath the wax. Apply the wax against the direction of your hair growth.

4. Using the stripping cloth that comes with the waxing kit, cut a few pieces, stick onto the body part with the wax, warm the wax by rubbing gently on the stripping cloth for 5 seconds, and then strip against the direction of your hair growth in a swift motion.

5. You can also warm this up in the microwave for a few seconds. Transfer an ample amount into a microwavable container, and nuke it in the oven for 10- 15 seconds using moderate heat. Make sure you don't boil the whole wax. Let the wax cool for a few seconds before using it so you won't scald and burn your skin.

I recommend the new wax to:

1. People with stubborn hair
2. People with thick hair
3. People with hair strands that cling closely to the roots

I recommend the traditional wax to:

1. People with fine hair
2. People with sensitive skin

Overall, I love it because in spite of its thick and hard consistency, I think it's a much better version of the classic wax because it literally takes everything away! I'm definitely repurchasing!

  1. Hello Ms. Martha.. I am bit curious about maxing..
Does waxing can lessen the dark spots in your legs or "scars" aside that it is for removing hair in legs?
