THE VERDICT:

I have this love-hate relationship with Liquid Oil Cleansers: Their makeup- removing prowess remains unmatched in my books, but they can be a bit messy-I hate how it would dribble into my eyes and how it would find itself inside my mouth!

Now there's this product called Sherbet Cleanser-it is basically an oil cleanser, but in a solid form and with a much fancier name-I recently discovered it through Tony Moly Aquaporin Sherbet Cleanser. A quick search on Google revealed that Sherbet Cleansers are pretty popular nowadays and can be considered a potential threat to traditional, liquid oil cleansers because it's fuss- free, mess- free, and can be brought anywhere due to its compact state, and I also read that most Korean women prefer Sherbet Cleanser as 'part two' in their two- step cleansing routine, which is only a preview of their long skin care routine. (I blogged about a Korean Skin Care routine HERE) In some Western brands, they have the same product, but they call it Cleansing Balm.

So I'm loving this cleanser lately because it's absolutely convenient and mess- free. Might be too early to say this, but I think I'll switch to this product when I get tired of my usual oil cleanser!

TONY MOLY AQUAPORIN SHERBET CLEANSER IN DETAIL

This solid oil cleanser contains plankton, minerals, and Willow Water to quench dehydrated skin. Aquaporin is a full skin care range that features this, a cleanser, toner, emulsion, moisturizer, sleeping pack, and sheet mask.

The one thing I like about it is also the same thing I dislike about it: It comes in a huge, filled-to-the-brim tub, but you all know my hygiene sentiments about products in tubs. Well, at least some of my cosmetic spatulas can be put to good use.

For the future users, please use a spatula with this product-don't just dunk your fingers in it to grab the product. Otherwise, you'll transfer makeup, dirt, and bacteria into the tub!

TONY MOLY AQUAPORIN SHERBET CLEANSER IN ACTION

First off, this product smells like lemon butter: it's citrusy and creamy at the same time, and the buttery texture plus the spatula makes me feel as if I'm about to eat yogurt whenever I'm using it. Mmmm. A little scoop covers a large area of skin, thus it is economical.

Unlike liquid oil cleanser, this one just stays put even if warmed up or spread throughout the face-it's like the oil molecules sit so close to each other and it was processed in such a way that it stays intact. (Ooh, Science). It literally feels like oil and removes makeup really well, plus it leaves no oily residue after rinsing with facial foam and water (which you should do because you are supposed to rinse this product). BUT--I would not suggest it for eye use because it has a thicker consistency, thus you will have a hard time removing it from your peepers. BTW, I did not break out from this product.

This is a pretty cool invention and I'll definitely keep one on hand for my trips because it's spill- proof and mess- free, plus it makes cleansing with oil a lot less agonizing, although scent can be too much for some people. If you love oil cleansers like me, this is a must try!

  3. Awesome! I really dislike oil cleansers because I hate how messy it is. I have heard of this type of cleanser from Banila Co. but it's too expensive, happy to hear that TonyMoly has their own version!
