I have long followed Kat Von D since her tattoo- centric reality show in MTV up until she put up her makeup line; I've always wanted to try out her products and since my Blogging journey is starting to come full circle as I'm lately interested again in popular makeup products that can't be found locally (aka TBJ 2009), I decided to try out Kat Von D cosmetics and for starters, I got the Lock It Foundation and Studded Kiss Lipstick. Boy, Kat's lipstick is one of the nicest matte lippies I have tried!

This brand's pilot lipstick line features the innovative Color Cushion Technology that combines color and comfort; it promises to deliver intense color in one swipe in a velvet- soft texture. Comes in a variety of shades for every skin tone and in matte, shimmer, and metallic finishes. Paraben- free.

Let me just say that the packaging is stunning! It's feminine and chic at the same time; I like how Kat left a touch of her personality in this product. Best of all is the packaging doesn't look and feel cheap!

The product has Kat's initials carved on the body of the lipstick. I chose Lolita, the most popular shade in this collection. There's another version of Lolita called Lolita 2 and it is in the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick range. My only problem is I find the size of the lipstick way too small for the price.

Lolita is described as a dusty rose with a hint of mauve. It's a lovely, classic rose that looks good on and adapts to all skin tones. The lipstick has a rich, soft texture and it feels plush and soft, and delivers color that can be layered on nicely, but without the weight. Pigmentation is medium to heavy. Finish is soft matte or what I'd like to call the feminine matte; the lipstick feels really nice on the lips.

Staying power is pretty good; it fades gradually, doesn't flake, and can last the whole day even without retouching if you don't eat with it. It has a light floral vanilla scent that gave the lipstick a more luxurious feel. Glad I chose Lolita because it is indeed a prettifying shade!

I'm pretty happy with Studded Kiss; I am looking forward to getting more colors because it's a very nice and gentle matte; it's pigmented, but not as drying as regular matte lipsticks.

16 Lovely Thoughts

  1. I didn't know they have Lolita in their studded kiss range! It looks very pretty but very dupable. I'm gearing more towards the lolita 2 one. Thank you for this post!

  2. It cosmetics or tarte foundie please (looks like I'm requesting from a DJ lol!). Lolita is universally flattering and I'm kinda afraid to afraid to use the lippie I might ruin kat von's signature lol!

  3. It looks so good on you!

  4. I love the packaging it's so unique. And the lip color so feminine I love it so much. And it's always good to know that it doesn't make the lips dry. That's really something you need to consider when buying one.

  5. Ang cute and cool ng Lippie naka carved tung name in Kat. I think this shade is so pretty.

  6. Ahhh, so this is the infamous Lolita. It has so many variations that I get confused most of the time. It's a great every day color, but it's not as unique as Lolita 2, I think. Kris Aquino also swears by Kat Von D's matte lipsticks, she has a few in her collection and she says that it's the type you can wear all day and won't have to retouch! :) I have to say I love the packaging too! Very badass, and it really represents Kat's art style. I've also been watching her since L.A.Ink, and when I heard about her make up line I was pleasantly surprised! :) Her brand continues to be something to look out for in the market! Have you tried her palettes? Those have been getting raves as well! :)

  7. nice color, but I think Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick (Touch of Spice)can be a dupe of this pricey one, though the pigmentation of Kat Von could last longer

  8. Yes, the shade is very beautiful, bagay sayo. I also love the color and packaging.

  9. It's so small for the price :/

  10. Hi martha!!! I really want to try kat von d's lolita lip products, but it's out of my budget. Will you share some color dupes? Thank you <3

  11. Wow! I didn't know that Lolita looks good on Morenas. I also have one in the shade Cathedral and it's the perfect mauve shade! I should have gotten this one too. It looks really good on you, Ms. Martha! :)

  12. The packaging is very nice, unique and classic! The shade is loved...dusty rose, mauve, old rose colors... plus points because it smells of vanilla!

  13. yeah, the lippie's a bit small for its size nga. That's what I noticed too before reading it.
and yes, reading your posts now feels like when I was just starting to read your blog! I get this, "parang wala sa pilipinas nito" feel just like before. BUT I appreciate these posts now since I have already the means to buy them lol and I'm not sure if I've already mentioned before, but reading a review from a Filipino blogger about an international brand has more weight than reading it from, say a US blogger, for me at least because the trust is already there. I know that you won't write something good that you don't really like in real life.

  14. I love the color, packaging and the fact that it doesn't flake.

  15. This looks nice on you Martha. :) This is one of those lipsticks that seem to be worth the money. :) I'll get one for myself this Christmas. :)

  16. The packaging is so nice and the shade really looks good on you. Bagay sayo Ms. Martha, love the matte lipstick that is not drying on the lips. 😍
