THE VERDICT:

I feel like when you start using a Cosrx best- seller, you just have to get the others and poof! All of a sudden, you're a CosRX zealot (provided of course that the products worked for you!) and now I am one. 

Now I'm on a CosRX high! Just this week, I shared my fascination over Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser and mused about how it did not 'hurt' my skin in the very beginning of my skin care routine; it's just fitting to try its famous co-best seller, One Step Original Clear Pad, which I will now review for everyone today.

If you have dull, flaky skin and you want that Glass Skin effect with almost zero effort, this pad will change the game for you!

Cosrx One Step Original Clear Pad is an award- winning toning solution that promises to exfoliate, clean, and rejuvenate the skin.

Ingredients

The actives present in this product are Willow Bark and Betaine Salicylate, both known BHAs or Beta Hydroxy Acids. BHA is a chemical exfoliant that is good for acne prone skin because it peels away dead skin cells that may clog the skin further and facilitates faster cell turnover. Willow Bark is the source of Salicylic Acid, the only known BHA until Betaine Salicylate, a compound derived from Beets, came along. Betaine Salicylate is actually used as a milder alternative to Salicylic Acid due to the fact that some skin types don't tolerate the latter well. I'm surprised to see the two BHAs present in this product as it's normally an either or with these when it comes to usage in skin care. Perhaps CosRX is targeting a lot of skin types with this formulation.

This begs the question: Since these two BHAs are present, isn't this product too strong for daily use? Most consumer beauty products such as this have a very mild formulation so there's nothing to worry about, unless you have very sensitive skin.

In the box, you get a tub with Mr. Cosrx, their mascot, and 70 pre-soaked pads that's good for a little over four months because it is advised to use one pad per day only, preferably during night time. With the concentration of BHAs that it has, using it twice puts you at risk of over exfoliation and the acids may cause your makeup to run off or turn patchy around midday.

The soaked pads are convenient to use at home, but isn't that travel- friendly at all because it's hard to carry it around, unlike a cotton pad and liquid toner. Transferring the pads to a container may mean that you'll lose some precious liquid due to evaporation. Speaking of evaporation, keep the lid tightly shut when not in use to prevent air from drying up the pads.

The pad has two sides: a smooth side that you will use to apply the product and a textured side that will aid in exfoliation. No need to apply force when using this product; let the liquid and the pad do the exfoliation for you.

The product has a light minty scent; nothing overpowering. It yields a very light cooling sensation and surprisingly doesn't sting; the presence of Orange oil extract in the ingredients gives the product a slight glossy look and feel.

Right after using the pad and nearly a month of usage

The initial effect that I got from this product is the glass skin effect; my skin looked brighter, smoother, and radiant after sweeping the pad across my skin. I only use this pad during night time.

I've been using this product for nearly a month now and I've noticed great changes in the texture and look of my skin. My skin feels and looks smoother, looks clearer, and it helped tame breakouts. My skin looks more refined, which means more flawless- looking foundation and powder! While some toners just provide an extra clean, this product does that plus renews your skin's texture.

Cosrx One Step Original Clear Pad is AMAZING; I'm so glad I have tried it and I can't believe I didn't try it earlier! Thanks to this, I'm also introduced to the beautiful world of chemical exfoliants and I never thought my skin could look and feel smoother until this product came along!

P.S. I read somewhere that Betaine Salicylate performs better on skin sitting on pH 3-5 so it's really best to pair this up with CosRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser!

This is such a good discovery and I will buy it again! There are two more versions of this product, I believe, but at the moment, I don't feel the need to try them because I'm so happy with this product!
