For this edition of Beauty Battles, Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit and Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Concealer will go on a face- off.
These are two of my well- loved concealers, and I have to admit, it would hurt to say that one of them is better than the other. But alas, I must be King Solomon for a while, and would have to tell everyone which palette earns my approval.
Under eye concealer palettes are great because 1.) You get to save money instead of buying three different shades 2.) Have an array of colors that allows you to mix colors 3.) It can also double as a facial concealer
Maifanshi Concealer is one of my greatest discoveries last year. It’s lightweight, and surprisingly, it lasts all day in spite of our humid weather. I like the fact that it’s formulated to sit on top of the under eyes to prevent the concealer from seeping into fine lines. It’s also considered as Mineral Makeup, and it has gone through painstaking research before it was finally formulated and sold in the market. If you’re going to ask me, I think it’s pretty worth its price because 1.) It has a mix of yellow and peach undertones for eye brightening and concealing 2.) It’s safe to be used even by people with extra sensitive skin 3.) Coverage is medium, yet can be built. So it’s best for people who don’t like thick, pasty, and heavy concealers 4.) Camera friendly
CONS
Price is a given. Bobbi Brown is around P2300-2400, while Koh Gen Do is around P2500. In terms of price difference, it ain’t significant. But which gives you a bang for your buck? Here we go….
KGD’s shades are limited. The only palette we have here is called ‘Light’, and I’m not sure if there are other colors for this. As you can see, KGD is too light. If you’re a gal in an NC43 shade match or beyond, I’m sorry, but this palette will not suit you. In Bobbi Brown, finding your exact shade match wouldn’t be a problem.
Certain people might find Bobbi’s concealer too pasty and thick. This concealer requires a bit of time because you’d have to apply it properly to prevent it from looking weird, not to mention you’ll be needing the proper makeup brushes to make it work. With Koh Gen Do, it’s just a swipe and go.
The great plus with KGD is its mini retractable brush. It’s not that useful, but trust me, you’ll find it handy, especially if you misplace your concealer brush. While Bobbi Brown is just that—no brush included. You’d have to buy separate tools to apply it, which means extra expenses on your part.
You will need powder to set your concealer. And that’s the best thing Bobbi’s concealer kit has to offer. It’s fool- proof, so you won’t have to look for the best powder to match your concealer. On the other hand, KGD has none. And if your powder is too dark or too light, it can affect the overall color of the concealer, meaning your under eyes can look too dark or chalky.
In terms of lasting power, I’m impressed with both products.
In terms of facial marks concealing, both do a wonderful job.
The Best Undereye Concealer Palette for me is:
BOBBI BROWN CREAMY CONCEALER KIT
Because I’m so head-over-heels with the setting powder, and it naturally adjusts my concealer’s shade to my normal skin tone. Even a Bobbi Brown noob would be impressed by this one!
