Harajuku Lovers Angel Review: This S**t is Pineapples. P-I-N-E-A-P-P-L-E-S"

A bowl of dried candied Pineapples—sounds good? I’m sure it will taste even better. But reek of it? Not so much. It is the unfortunate case of Harajuku Lovers Perfume in Lil’ Angel.

I’m quite fond of food- smelling perfumes. Hey, they make a good break from floral and citrus fragrances. But overtly sweet candy- smelling perfumes smell so bad, that I’d rather die than wear them.

I hate to break it, but Lil’ Angel smells bad. Well, I guess this is how Gwen Stefani describes lil’ Harajuku Angels, but that doesn’t change the fact that the scent is far from pretty—not even cute.

Okay. Let’s break down the scent, shall we? Top notes, dried candied Pineapples. Middle notes, Pineapple juice. Base notes, Fresh Pineapples with a teeny bit of musk. Could be a musky Pineapple note, perhaps? UGH! If Pineapples were living and breathing species, they’d murder me for Pineapple genocide, and a 2012 version of the movie "Attack of the killer Tomatoes" called "Attack of the killer Pineapples" impends.

Lil’ Angel could’ve been love if the scent evolved into something else—probably something less sweeter and muskier in the end so the candy scent would become wearable. But it’s just that—a tribute to one of the tastiest fruits in the world, the Pineapple.

I should’ve gone for Harajuku Lovers Angel. It’s more tolerable, but not a good scent either. But at least I’d smell like my kid cousin, not an air freshener.

But if you’re a fan of anything Harajuku or gyaru, you might like it. The actual bottle is cute, and it makes a good dresser display. Other than that, there’s nothing cute about it. Also, your younger sister in high school might like it.

But as always, whatever that didn't work for me, might work for you. Give it the benefit of the doubt.

  1. An aunt unfortunately gave me this scent for Christmas and I totally agree with everything you said!! The smell sort of reminded me of fermented fruits. Ugh

  10. Hi,Sis Martha :) thanks for reviewing this one. I'm surprised than none of you liked the smell, although i'm not dis-agreeing with you because i understand the fact that some people prefer syrup under their ice creams while others wants their syrups over it :) / Im not sure if you guys have gotten the older stock ones, because honestly mine smells like fresh fruit, not too sweet, not the kind of perfumes that teens love to wear, Honestly mine smells like a sparkling Pina Colada, a fresh one, not sweet but really refreshing :) I think you guys should give "Lil Angel" a chance. Thanks :)
