THE VERDICT:

Last Thursday, I was invited by Revlon Philippines to the Blogger Sneak Peek of the new Colorburst Matte and Lacquer Balm lines. Sadly, I was unavailable, but I was sooo anticipating the reveal of these babies that I had to put some things aside just to attend the quaint Blogger gathering. Oh, the things I do for the love of makeup!

We were finally given a go signal to reveal these lovelies so Hallelujah! The best- selling Just Bitten Lip Stain finally has a new sister, Colorburst Matte Balm. I couldn't wait to get my hands on these babies because for one, I love matte lipstick and Just Bitten Lip Stain is one of my fave lippies. The Lacquer Balm, I shall muse about in a separate review.

REVLON COLORBURST MATTE BALM IN DETAIL

FYI, the new lip crayon lines of Revlon are finally called Colorburst and Just Bitten Lip Stain will follow suit very soon-still the same formula, but all- new name.

Colorburst Matte contains a triple complex of Mango, Shea, and Coconut Butter to soothe and moisturize lips during wear. It comes in ten bold, daring, and fun shades.

Packaging is the same as Just Bitten Lip Stain, but the finish is matte to complement the product. These babies look so luxe!

More about this tolerable matte lipstick and swatches after the jump!

REVLON COLORBURST MATTE BALM IN ACTION

Audacious

Audacious is a warm orange shade with a hint of coral.

Audacious is a lovely, summery shade and it suits dark skin tones very well. It's a great orange shade that doesn't look to loud nor too old, but still gives your skin a nice pop of color. Oh, this shade looks great on royal blue outfits too. :)

Striking

Striking is a pink-red shade with a rosy undertone.

Striking is such a prettifying shade and to some extent, it's an MLBB shade. On darker skin tones, it looks warmer while on fairer skin tones, it fares more red. This shade has an elegant feel to it and methinks it's a safe red that you can wear to the office.

Shameless

Shameless is a medium- toned purple.

Hello MAC Heroine dupe! I've been anticipating the arrival of Heroine for quite a while now, but I may be putting my purchase on hold because I have Shameless! Shameless is a very unique color and it looks great on both fair and dark skin tones. It's a great shade to wear if you wanna sport the vampy look, but still manage to look pretty and fun.

These balms have a soft finish and coverage is medium to heavy. I noticed that on lighter colors, payoff has a tendency to look a bit streaky while the darker ones are opaque in one stroke. It has a light peppermint taste just like Just Bitten Lip Stains. Finish has this sheen in the beginning, but dries off to a velvety finish after a few minutes. It has a tendency to feel heavy on the lips though, so don't apply a lot unless you can tolerate it. I have no problems with it as long as I scrub my lips and prep it with lip balm before usage. If your lips are very dry or prone to dryness and flaking during the day, remember to exfoliate your lips or apply a sheer layer of matte lip balm underneath as it can highlight dry areas, albeit it doesn't worsen these problems. Staying power is very good as it can last a meal with very minimal fading, but I'd still suggest you retouch it for decent- looking coverage. My lips don't go dry with it and it is quite easy to remove too-formula is very similar to Illamasqua's non- drying matte lippies. I love!

TIP: To avoid a streaky payoff with the lighter colors, rub your lips together or even out the product with a lip brush or clean finger right before it settles into a matte finish.

Colorburst Matte Balms are one of the most tolerable matte lip products I've tried so far next to Illamasqua Matte Lipstick and Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lipstick. Aside from being a lipstick, it doubles as a lip liner too and that's what makes it a good buy!
