I have decided that starting this year, I will review all makeup collections that I will receive collectively so as to save time, space, and so that I won't miss out on any makeup product that you'd like to know more about. The debuting makeup collection in my new kind of blog post is Bobbi Brown's Scotch On The Rocks collection of 2014.

Scotch On The Rocks was the much- awaited Holiday collection of Bobbi for 2014. It consists of makeup gift sets and limited edition colors in packaging that exuded the warmth, glitz, glam and joy of the holidays and was greatly inspired by the golden hue of the namesake drink.

I will be reviewing the following makeup products from this collection: High Shimmer Lip Gloss in Bellini, Scotch On The Rocks Lipstick, and Lip And Eye Palette. More about these products after the break!

I have already written detailed reviews on the following products so I'll just gladly redirect you to them-this is more of a swatch blog post. :)

Here are the eyeshadows:

Ivory- a warm white shade (matte)
Cement- a very pale beige with a hint of Taupe (matte)
Black Chocolate- A dark chocolate shade (matte)

Cement as lid wash; Black Chocolate as crease color; Ivory as highlighter

Cement is my most favorite shade in the bunch because I like the 'naturally smoky' effect it gives my eyelids!

Here are the lip colors.

Natural Pink

- A cream pink shade (satin).

Natural Pink is a lovely weekend color!

- A midtone brown with a pink undertone (satin).

Bobbi indeed makes nice Brown lipsticks, Browns that look so natural, so flattering, and give you a nice flush of color even if it's a neutral hue and this shade is no exception-I can see myself wearing this shade everyday!

Now here are the lip glosses. One is an individual product and the other, part of the Lip And Eye Palette.

Bare Sparkle (from the Lip and Eye Palette)

- A clear gloss with orange-gold micro shimmer.

Bare Sparkle gives virtually no color coverage-it's simply a much shinier version of your average clear gloss, but I gotta appreciate the orange micro shimmer as it gives my lips a uniform glimmer.

High Shimmer Lip Gloss in Bellini

- A clear gloss with abundant pink-violet shimmer.

Bellini is just like Bare Sparkle as it's also a clear gloss, but it has more shimmer than the latter that it already gives your lips some form of color coverage. The thing with Bobbi's High Shimmer lip gloss is that it gives the lips a pretty kind of sparkle without all those odd, chunky glitters that stick out or bleed around the lips. It's a must- try for shimmer lip gloss lovers!

We are down to the last product!

- A deep red shade with a hint of wine (satin).

Whoops, apologies for the blurred photo!

Raisin is one of Bobbi's classic lip colors-it has been around since forever! It's in the classic satin lip color formula of Bobbi Brown, which to me is one of the best, non-drying, long- wearing satin lipsticks in town. :) Love that it's got that Marsala feel to it, thus it's a lip color that I think I'll be wearing year- round! :)

In sum, this is a pretty good, honest collection: it's simple and no frills as it offers a ton of very wearable colors that will look good on anyone and no matter the occasion. Colors may not be that adventurous, but personally, if I were to spend a lot on makeup, I want to get something that I can wear everyday and will practically go with whatever I want to wear (do you feel me?).

The must- have items for me are the lipstick because it comes in a gorgeous, limited edition gold tube and the Lip And Eye Palette because it offers three really nice eyeshadow shades and two lip colors that will allow me to create a simple but gorgeous look easily, especially when traveling-wish it came with a blush though instead of a lip gloss!

I believe this collection is still available in all local Bobbi Brown counters so by all means, do check it out!

6 Lovely Thoughts

  1. I super love this collection. I wanted the bigger palette sana but it's not on my budget. Haha. The only thing I don't like about this collection are the glosses. I find them too fancy. It would be okay if it has color. But it's so sheer eh, it is like a liquid glitter. I don't know, I just don't like glittery stuff on the lips. :) Anyway, I super love the mini palette as well. What I bought from the collection is the trio mini eyeliners. :) I super love them, definitely worth the price

  2. ang cute ng palette :) hanggang tingin na lang po <3

  3. Hay Bobbi Brown, why so expensive. Always love the holiday collections. I dont think the glosses and shadows are worth the splurge as they are too sheer and basic shade. Lipstick looks good though.

  4. I agree with @Christine Agbayani. Bobbi Brown, mag-sale naman kayo. Please. Kahit minsan? :( Other than that little issue of price, they just have amazing collections. Year after year, the holiday stuff never disappoints. What's not to love? Their non-limited makeup are versatile. Not because a color is universal (a la Nars Orgasm), but because they've cornered the market on flattering color subtleties. It doesn't matter what skin tone you are, you'll find something there that will look "pretty powerful" on you. Yun lang nga, prepare sa pag-ipon. But masusulit because it's good for everyday use. :p

  5. Abegaill: Yeah, I'd probably skip the glosses in this collection too simply because I was never a fan. The eyeshadow palettes are gorgeous! There's this 12-piece eyeshadow palette that's so nice, but it's almost 5k! :P

Foodworldme and Christine: I feel you, girls. But I can't help it-I love Bobbi and I'd still willingly fork my money to the brand haha! :D

  6. I have collectioin of bobbi brown lipstick,i love em matte :)
